Prompted by my FWP from last night. That moment when your cashmere sweater gets sucked into the hose of your Dyson vacuum. I suppose the true FWP is that I don't have a cleaning lady
My DVR of the RHNJ reunion show (part 3) didn't tape. Of course they replay these a million times, but I don't get to watch it until tonight.....trash delay for me basically
HoneySpider, our dishwasher in this house takes forever too! It reads 99+ (minutes) when you start it, only because the display doesn't have a spot for a third digit. It's not great for people who don't plan ahead and need dishes RIGHT NOW, lol.
My FWP is that I just got into sewing, and did a bunch of projects, but we don't need anything else that I can sew right now. So I can either sew something we don't need, or not sew at all.
I have 8 days of work left, and over two weeks of sick time that I won't get paid out for. I should have planned better, and taken more Fridays earlier on.
My FWP: I don't have TLC and really want to watch Say Yes to the Dress lol.
Not sure what FWP stands for, but I just wanted to say, I THINk you can watch on Netflix streaming or if you don't mind paying ( I mind, lol) Amazon streaming has them also.

I'm so over reading reviews and prices for new appliances. Everything is blending together and mixing up in my brain. I just want to tell someone "My budget is $XYZ" and have them show me what is best according to consumer reports and customer reviews, and has the best sales.
Whatcha lookin for?
Stove - gas or electric? Do you want a smooth top and/or induction? Do you want a convection oven? My priorities were huge ass oven and smooth top.
Fridge - I'm assuming French door? Do you want ice/water in the door?
Dishwasher - These are a crap shoot. I try to find something quieter that isn't super expensive. I went with a plastic tub vs. a stainless tub.
Finish? Brand preference? Do you want them all to match? I was insistent that the handles all matched so they all had to be the same brand.
I will seriously shop for you. I didn't use Consumer Reports as much as I thought I would. Online reviews were just as good.
jjwritergirl On the stoves/ovens, I would go with normal gas stove, single oven, good reviews. The double oven ones are just so expensive, will eat up your budget, and probably won't add any resale value. I liked the idea of a double as well, but I'm super happy with my huge single oven (5.8 cu ft.) You can bake multiple things at a time, it's just a bit of balancing act with the temp. I think I would have been frustrated by the tiny second oven.
You're replacing cabinets, right? If so, that opens up a lot of options on the fridge. We were locked into a certain size so our fridge ended up being more expensive (manufacturers are smart, they know folks with older homes are locked into that size so they never put the damn things on sale.)
Dishwasher - another critical question...where do you want the silverware basket? We were adamant that it not be in the door
I would break it down this way - less than $900 stove, $300 or less microwave, approx $1,500 fridge, $500 to $700 dishwasher. You can get nicely reviewed Whirlpools in those price ranges and come in at/under budget.

We went to Sears and got all Kenmore appliances. Two are Kenmore Elite, and two regular Kenmore. We picked them out and then I came home and checked reviews before we went back and purchased them. I got pretty overwhelmed and really depended on the salesman to help us pick what we wanted.
The appliances were $3400-$3500 (and we did get warranties beyond that). I was pleased with the quality of appliances to cost. Basically I went in with a few things knowing I wanted and had the guy we were working with help point me towards the right product.
jjwritergirl I went with Maytags. I was really picky about the stove knobs (couldn't look/feel too plastic-y) and also about the back of the stove directly under the control panel/top. A lot of stainless ranges have a black strip there, but I wanted it to be completely stainless/seamless look. I didn't want any black trim.
I may have obsessed a wee bit much over my appliance choices
jjwritergirl- fwiw I have a double oven electric stove and I love it. (We don't have gas to our kitchen so it wasn't an option when I bought.)
I love the double oven. I use mainly the "smaller" oven and it's wonderful. It heats up faster because of the smaller part, it doesn't take as much electricity to heat it. The "smaller" oven is also on top so not as much bending when you are putting stuff in/taking it out. The "regular" size oven part is great if you are going to do turkeys/roasts or anything large. You can have both going at different temps so Christmas baking is quicker.
ewall I have two main issues. 1: I am absolutely loving the double oven stoves, and the electric ones get good reviews, but I hate electric cook tops. So that is the main thing tripping me up. I can't decide whether to get an electric double oven with good reviews, a gas double oven with mediocre ratings, or just a normal gas stove with good reviews. lol. Too many choices. The 2nd issues is price. We want to spend only $3200 and don't know how to divy that up. Most of the packaged sets have at least one bad apple. (there are a ton of sales right now so I think we can do this price if we order before Dec 2)
As far as the fridge we prefer French door for resale value, but I don't really care. Hubby says ice and water on door are required.
Dishwasher I just want to work well. Microwave I don't care a bit about as long as there is one. We use it rarely.
We prefer a matte finished stainless, but would take the shiny if that was the best product.
Sorry, so much text!
We went to a Sears appliance store during a sale and they were pretty helpful. It was a 30% off sale and they said their biggest sale of the year is this month FYI. It's upwards of 40% off.
-We got a single gas oven and the cooktop is amazeballs. I guess it would depend on how often you would use a double oven. -We got a French door Kenmore with the necessary ice maker and water in the door. The actual ice maker is hidden behind some shelves on the inside of the door and I LOVE it! Usually the ice maker in the top left corner takes up space on the top shelf. -Dishwasher is whirlpool and is one of the most popular sold at places like best buy and had good reviews. It's quiet and cleans well so we like it. The silverware are on the door which I originally didn't want but it actually frees up space and has individual slots for spoons don't nest and everything cleans well. -I can't remember which brand microwave we went with but the handles looked like the ones on the other appliances. I like that it's deeper so it can hold bigger plates. They also seem to come with the built-in oven option these days.
All appliances are matte and the fridge especially doesn't really show fingerprints. We ended up spending ~$3000 on everything and saved about $900 in sales.
ETA we also kept our old fridge and put it in the garage for drinks and extra freezer space and it was one of the best ideas ever.

Basically I LOVE mine.
We had a double oven in our house, it came with the house when we bought it so we didn't pick it or think about it but we ended up loving it. Basically for the reasons awick said
