Favorite things are wine, chocolate, running socks and nuun.
Least favorite, for a while between H and my mom I got a lot of bar soaps in my stocking. I'm still using up bar soap from like 5 Christmases ago. They were all really nice but I out the kibosh on it.

I don't know why, but that made me legit laugh. Reminded me of this video: youtu.be/6PKQE8FM2Uw

Since we've done Christmas with IL's for the past few years, I like to do lip glosses for the girls, nerdy Pez dispensers for the boys, and nice chocolates. I always bring the satsumas, too.
ETA: I don't do random lip glosses - they're either B&BW, EOS, or Victoria's Secret.
Usually high quality specialty chocolates (H sometimes gets random bars from World Market and I don't always even eat those, I have one from last year that is still sitting in my craft room, just a random non-brand chocolate), a pair of fun new socks. Those are my tried-and-true favorites. Otherwise, its often just little things I've been wanting...like when I wanted some tiny jar sized spatulas. Or a Burts Bee's package with like 5 lip balm sticks in it. My family tradition is always chocolate coins in the toe and I'm disappointed when I don't have that (H's tradition is a satsuma). Oh, and hot chocolates or Starbucks Vias.
I only hate getting stuff that's cheap and random to fill the stocking because I have enough problem with owning "stuff" with no need. I'd rather a more empty stocking than just whatever.
I don't get really anything in my stocking but if I were to pick I'd say, gift cards, nice nail polish, good candy, smaller kitchen utensils that might need to be replaced, body washes. Things that are useful and not all from the dollar store just to fill up the space.
Am I doing this wrong? I feel like I'm going broke doing stocking!
Don't forget to do fancy and pretty wrappings on things in the stocking...it also takes up space And they don't have to be BULGING. Also, favorite food stuffs are always good - a nice trail mix or dried fruits, favorite snacks can take up space without breaking the bank. H is getting new slippers this year and if they fit, they will probably take up the majority of his stocking.
