This is silly, but I just want to get it out somewhere: I just thought about how I don't get for-me gifts at the holidays and it makes me kind of sad. It's not a huge deal, but it's fun to unwrap things! And everyone is posting their wishlists on the message boards I read, and I'm not going to get any of that stuff.
I can't remember what happened last year, I know I got H something and maybe(?) he got me an amazon gift card. My mom used to give me gifts but doesn't anymore. We get a household gift from the ILs, usually something that we need and I'm super grateful for, but not like a fun thing just for me. (E.g., it's like a dyson, or sheets, or last year a dryer). And, that's it. So i'll get a household appliance and maybe one thing from H.
I know I'm lucky, and I know this isn't a big deal, but it seems like everyone else gets something fun and I....don't. Buying it yourself isn't quite the same.
Debbie Downer, party of 1.
I totally get this. We don't go gifts the proper way in our relationship or my family either. It kind of takes the fun out of Christmas.

Tonight is not good. I left DH and DD in the basement to go sob on the couch because DD is really, really trying my patience. She's having constant meltdowns, and she's been screaming for me for the past 5 minutes. She sounds so sad.

DD is a few months older and this has been my life for the past month or so. It's tough, so hang in there. And know that it's just them being assholes
I actually had to walk away from her the other day. (H was home and had to handle the disciplining.)

Thanks. Normally I'm the patient one, but tonight is just not my night.
DD has skipped her second nap. She's been doing this lately. She's only 11 months you guys. I thought the second nap doesn't get dropped until like closer to 3.
I think kids usually drop their second nap around 12 months. So 11 months isn't that early. DS dropped his second nap at 18 months, which was WAY later than all his friends.
I think age 3 is when some kids stop napping altogether.
