We travel a ton, but I'm tired of packing/unpacking things like my hair dryer, brushes, etc. I'd love to just have a packed bag that I throw clothes and shoes in.
I'm making my Christmas list, so any suggestions would be awesome
I recommend the Conair Mini styling tools. I have a mini dryer, and though I initially bought it for travel, I actually use it as my daily hairdryer because it's strong enough and easy to store. I recently bought the mini curling iron as well. I haven't tried the straightener - I have very think wavy hair, so I really need my full-size Chi (but I don't always travel with it - only if I'm going to a cool climate). The Conair mini brush is also decent quality - I've used other mini brushes that have just snapped.
For products, Ulta has a good selection of travel sizes for some of the nicer products you might use day to day, like moroccan oil and dry shampoo.
For products, I don't like to change my routine, so I have some GoToobs that I refill for each trip. And for things like face creams, I just put some into a cute quirky contact lens case.
Also, I jump on gift sets of my favorite perfume that include a smaller travel bottle that fits better into my liquids bag.
I've become an expert hoarder of samples and travel sizes from places like Sephora. For example I'm getting this kit for the second year in a row because it comes with a great travel size cleanser and it's the same price as the jar of facial alone! I add or subtract those depending on why type of trip or the length. I also second GilliC's tip about the contact lens case for random liquids.
I have a separate bag for non-liquids, and that stays pretty constant -- travel toothbrush, contact lens case, hair tie/clip, spare contacts, folding brush, and a couple other things. I don't use a flatiron and I've never been anywhere I needed a blowdryer that didn't provide one, so I'm no help there. I use this brush from Sephora (sometimes they'll have weird colors even cheaper on clearance) and Ole Henriksen has a couple different kinds of cleansing cloths that come in packs of 10, which are handy.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
