I might think of more things to add to this so I made my own thread.
So this weekend we were planning on moving over to the new house completely. Well Sunday we had our first snow so we decided we wouldn't move everything - just as much as we could. Plus, the new house doesn't have internet so we wanted to get it set up before we moved.
Well we didn't decide this until half way through Saturday. So we were packing like we were moving everything then decided not to move everything
So Saturday night we packed up these things to bring back to the old house socks underwear night clothes jeans
Then I had to send my DH back for bath towels that night.
Yesterday we had to go over to get: a couple food items my hair dryer work clothes for DH sweat pants for me kitchen towels
This morning after my shower I realized I have no hair products here and no deodorant. DH has deodorant so I guess I will just be smelling manly today until I get to the new house.
Oh! and to add to the fun... we moved our washer and dryer to the new house this weekend and it's not hooked up yet, so no doing laundry at either house.
Feel free to laugh at me. I keep laughing about the whole situation.
We did the same thing when we moved here. No laughing, just commiserating! We were between both houses for a couple months (weekends here, workdays at our condo). When DH fell off the roof we had most things moved to our new house except the bed, washer/dryer, tv, and refrigerator (we had toiletries, clothes, minimal dishes, etc at both places. I would pack up everything for the weekend (food, clothes, cleaning supplies, etc) and inevitably forget something at either house.
Enjoy- it's going to be a tough week but all worth it once you get into your new home! Besides, I love the smell of DH's deodorant and wouldn't mind having an excuse to wear it all day!
I've never done a half move, but I can see how that would be super frustrating! It will all be over soon
The closest I've come to that is when we were without power after Superstorm Sandy. We were living at my parents for a week or so and shuffling items back and forth from our freezing, dark house. I may have cried to DH one evening because I forgot to bring my tampons and work shoes. The thought of driving back to our house and stumbling around in the cold was just too much to bear. DH was a champ and retrieved them for me.
We did something similar when we moved, but not to that extent. We were just moving across town from a rental to the house we bought, so we took many loads over during the week so we didn't have to pay the movers for so long. It all worked out, but probably not the best way to handle it.
Thankfully I'm really not frustrated about it. I have been ready to move out of the old house for years. Now that things are getting moved out every room seems so much bigger and I'm already missing this house. We got engaged in this living room. It has a lot of sweet memories, but I really am looking forward to living at the new house. It's just weird that we have been remodeling for 18 months and are finally going to live there.
