Amy I agree that CNAs teacher sounds horrible and I would be talking to the principal. However in my experience teachers are still overall amazing and are working just as hard as our moms generation did (also raised by a teacher).
I was a hr director in my old life and I never brought home work. Dh is an accountant and never brings home work. My BFF is an engineer--no work at home. I disagree that professional careers often bring work home. I don't think there's a profession quite like teaching where much work needs to be done after hours.
I agree. While DH will often field calls from home he has NEVER actually brought stuff home. In fact no professional I know others than teachers and therapist do.

I guess I just don't see teachers as that different than any other profession, in that there are great ones and crappy ones. They aren't special snowflakes. And I'm the kid of a teacher and a union man!

Eh, if you need to field calls and emails, that is bringing work home in my mind.

Oh of course there are crappy ones I am not arguing that, but overall I think they are pretty darn amazing and the majority bring stuff home that is what I was saying.
I think it's unfair to just assume the teacher didn't take work home. It is well known around the school that the amount of paperwork the teachers had to do and the amount of time they had to do it was nearly impossible. It was brought up to the principal several times by several people and hopefully it won't happen again. I do think she could have done better, but she wasn't the only teacher struggling with the timeframe they had.
I never said my DH was famous. He is a popular guy in this town. Everyone knows him and knew his dad.
So now he's simply "popular"? LOL. Your OP was obnoxious, and you wanted people to ask. Now they are asking and suddenly he's just popular. Is he Homecoming King?

Nope. Not homecoming King. I never thought i would be asked because it doesn't matter. He's well known. Is that a better way to say it? I never originally said he's so popular, he's so famous. Someone originally asked if he was important so I said yes.

So what makes him important? Is he a mine owner? Politician? Usually the majority of the time it is a profession that makes someone important in a town. So what is his profession?

Ok, but I am assuming they have strict guidelines about instructional time per subject that just got tossed out the window for a week. How is that made up?
And I mean yeah, there is no amount of paperwork that requires an entire work week AND she was taking stuff home each night. Unless maybe she didn't have her shit together in the first place.
I think there are lots of arguments to be made about paperwork and process interfering with teaching -- not teaching for a week isn't one of them.

Agree every teacher has paperwork to basically she shut down her class for a week that is unacceptable.
Ok, fine, she fucked up, but like I said, a lot of other teachers found themselves in the same boat. You could go so far as to call it a school full of shitty teachers but the student body as a whole is doing better than almost every state average you can find, so our kids were not scarred for life. A lot of people got screwed over and I just remembered it was a 3 day week between a holiday and conferences. The timing of the whole thing was just horrible.

True story--my ex in hs/college was prom king. Considering that I found out he cheated on me like 463685475 times after we broke up it probably wasn't the best decision. Lol. #randomanecdoteftw #ihatehashtags

But just like, whoa, we still send people deep into the earth to mine shit that is bad for us even though we have alternatives.
Around here the big money is in the oil fields. I think it's the same idea in that they are being generously compensated for doing a very dangerous job.
