I am livid right now.
We ordered a sofa from Amazon on Nov 1. Expected delivery date was Nov 13-17. Delivery is being done by Pilot and had to be scheduled with them directly. So I called last week but they would not schedule until the sofa was at our local warehouse. Was supposed to arrive there Friday, never got a call.
Called Monday morning and was told it was just arriving and that someone would call me later that day to schedule the appt. No one called so I called again. Apparently they had my phone number wrong (one number was off). Scheduled delivery for today (Nov 18, so past the delivery timeframe) from 12-3. I pointed out the issue with the phone number and gave them the correct one.
I'm checking the tracking all day and it says out for delivery but 3pm comes and goes and no sofa. At 3:40 it updates the status to "attempted delivery no one home." I have been here all day. I call again and they say the driver was here from 3-3:30 and they tried calling and no one answered. Well, THEY CALLED THE WRONG NUMBER so of course I didn't answer. Apparently the driver didn't even bother walking into the apt building or anything because I had told the property manager I was expecting the delivery today....or he could have, you know, come to my apt door and knocked. I have been home all day purposely waiting for this delivery.
They won't come back and deliver today. They acted like this was my fault and didn't understand why I was mad. I explained that this is an inconvenience and the lady had the nerve to tell me "no, this isn't an inconvenience." Really? Have you been sitting here all day, after waiting 2.5 weeks for your sofa? Do you now have to wait again, on another day?
The best they can do is come tomorrow at 8am. I guess I have to go sit out in front of my apt complex at 8am to ensure it gets delivered because I guarantee you, the driver will not have the right phone number for me.
Pilot doesn't give a crap about the issues, they told me to contact the seller. The seller's not going to care because it's Pilot's problem. So am I just SOL? Can I complain to Amazon? I don't think this is right. It took forever to ship and now there are delivery problems.
I want to cry right now. I just want a freaking sofa to sit on.
That is SO irritating. Delivery is the worst. Sorry. I would definitely complain to Amazon. Maybe you could get a credit or something onto your account!! I think that's really rude of both companies to have this happen.

What a headache. It is here, the driver was so pissed off at ME he kept showing me the form with the phone number and saying "I kept calling this number and there was no answer" Um, because that's not my number. I told him I called Pilot but he didn't care.
They will only deliver it into the building, not take it upstairs, so it's on the 1st floor and when DH gets home we have to take it up to the 4th. Fun times.
I hope they get it right, because that's absurd. I won't go into it, but yesterday I was on the phone with Target customer service for an hour only to be SOL. Shipping struggles are just miserable.
Seriously! Sorry you're having issues this week too.

I'm still so confused as to why the driver would sit in his truck in front of the building for half an hour, calling a number no one is answering, and not get out of the truck and go in to the building. Yes, they are working on the lobby so it's a mess but there are a lot of guys around, he could have yelled in to them if he didn't want to go in.
I am waiting to see how comfy it is before I decide if ordering it online was worth it.

Are you just sitting on the couch in the lobby on your laptop?
That would be awesome
It's in the stairwell waiting for us. DH just got home. It's in pieces so I think we're going to take it out of the box and take it up piece by piece. Wish us luck.

Definitely complain to Amazon they have amazing customer service and will try their best to make you happy.
I had a problem w something I ordered from them that was from another actual seller and it arrived broken. Amazon arranged for another to be shipped same day and gave me a full refund!
I agree with melsamoony. I have had to call Amazon before about shipping issues and they were incredibly helpful and accepting of my complaint. It's important for them to know that you weren't happy with the shipping company that they used.
Amazon is pretty big into customer service and hassle-free. I would bet that if you complain they would refund shipping and take the complaint up with the company. At the very least Pilot will lose Amazon's business (which I imagine would be a big deal). Their attitudes are what would make me take action. This is a capitalist society for a reason, damnit!

Contacted Amazon and explained the whole story. First the guy offered me a $18 credit (random number). I said I felt that was kind of low for the hassle I went through and for how much money I've been spending with Amazon and he came back and said he could do $20 but that was the highest his system would allow him to do. So I got a $20 credit, not too exciting but it's something I guess. I'm a little disappointed but I really don't want to spend even more time pursuing it any more. At least they know about the issue with the shipping company and I can move on.
Shipping was free for prime members so I couldn't ask for a refund on shipping specifically.
Sorry the figure was so low....I'm glad they're doing SOMETHING though...
Yeah I appreciate that they were responsive and not just "too bad, not our problem!" like so many companies seem to do. Amazon always has good customer service. I feel like I've gotten $10 or $15 credits for the smallest things before so that's why it seemed weird to me to only get $20 for an issue on a big item. Oh well.
I'm glad they are doing something for you even if it is low. Glad you didn't pay shipping either! Is the couch comfy?
It's weird...the material itself is comfy, it's really soft. But the part where you sit is sort of short, and then the backs are high, so it seems out of whack. I'm sure it will just take some getting used to and breaking it in a little bit. I just can't believe that none of the reviews mentioned it was short because others we saw did say that.
HoneySpider - glad you at least got some money back.
Not to be a jerk, but I know you mentioned you assembled it, are the cushions on right? Sounds like they are backwards.
It does sound like it, right? They are definitely on right though, the base is all one piece with the bottom cushions already attached (there are recliners in the sofa) and then you just put the back cushions on.
I think the backs are just too fluffy, although I'm sure they will get smashed down after us sitting on it a while so hopefully that will help. It's not like we can't sit on it or anything, it just seems like there should be more room. Maybe we are just too fat, haha.
