I'll include them. DD1's first pic was taken by the NICU staff, long before we could see her, and while it still gives me a lot of feelings it's part of our story.
This is DS at 8 days old. He was wearing a lot more headgear before this, with a breathing machine and whatnot. My favorite opic is actually on our fridge - it's DS with me holding his tiny hand, all wrapped up in wires, but I love it.
I had to blur out his leg band because it had my name on it.
I LOVE the pics of him with his sunglasses on. I still have them. And the later pics with his helmet. It's just a part of his story. He's now a running/talking/yelling terrorist. He had his first scraped knee at 27mo.
DS was born at 2 pounds and spent his first 2 months in the NICU. His NICU story is a huge part of who he is and I would definitely include them! Here's a few faves of my super preemie
I would include them. I know they bring up a lot of emotions but I think it would be good to have pictures from when your baby first started out. If it's too much right now, maybe put it off a little longer but leave room for down the road if you feel up to it.
I know this is an old thread, and I'm sure you've made your decision at this point, but I just wanted to AW my preemies too. They were 29 weekers and in the NICU for 64 days. We included all their pics, the billi lights, CPAP mask and all the others. I had HELLP, so I was on so many drugs and don't remember meeting them for the first time. That's the emotional pic for me. I didn't include that one ( I looked rough! Haha ), but it's on my phone.
Definitely include them. We have a bunch of pictures from DS's heart surgery, they were tough to take and tough to look at for a while, but I'm glad we have them now. It's a part of his life I'd like him to know, even if he doesn't have any actual memories of it.
Wait people, stop liking my stupid post above and let me AW my wired up baby instead the first time I fed her. She is 2 days old. They let me pour like 10 mL of BM into the tube and hold it above her head and here she is "drinking" it.

I don't think I AW'd my pictures before either! My H took the one for me because I couldn't go see the baby yet and the other is the first time I got to touch him in the nicu.

I absolutely include all of D's NICU photos...it's part of his amazing story.
One day, he will see how much of a champion he really is when he's slaving over chemistry homework, or sad because some girl (or guy) broke his heart or if he loses his job or when someone close to him passes away. It's all part of who he is and who he will be.
Here are my little bugs about an hour after they were born. Just under 3 lbs. sorry if the pics are huge! It's my first time posting a pic . Everyones babies are beautiful!
I was a NICU baby due to prematurity and having pneumonia at birth. We have two or three Polaroids(yay 1981) of me while being on a vent at four days old. I am not sure how my mom feels about them, but I am glad I have them to see how far I have come. My mom always refers to me as her preemie with each milestone that she thought I would never have(graduating high school, college,,marriage, giving birth).
I don't have a baby book, but I would absolutely want them in there if my mom had made one for me.
DD was only in the NICU for a few days but it's definitely part of her story, even if the photos of those days bring up a lot of feelings on my part about how her birth went down. I'll include them if/when I ever get around to making a baby book.
