Ikea has been opened about 2 months now in KC and Baby W has to go to the ophthalmologist tomorrow in KC, so we're headed in early to go and walk through before his appointment. I'm excited! What do I absolutely HAVE to see and buy? I've been once in Dallas 3 years ago, but my H and his stepdad ruined my entire trip and I rushed through most of it.
Baby W will be with me, but he's easily distracted with chocolate milk and Frozen on the iPad.

I have no purchase advice, although if you like cinnamon rolls, you should definitely get one (or 6). I would just wander on through and pick up what strikes your fancy, although I usually get lost in the textiles and tschochkes departments. Definitely check out the as-is section - there's usually great deals in there. The holiday/Christmas stuff should be out now, too, but I haven't seen it this year, so I can't tell you if it's great or horrifying.

Frames! Little kitchen stuff, storage boxes, that kind of stuff is my favorite (and easy to throw in the cart and car, lol).
I'm hoping that the carseat is in the right spot so I can lay down 2/3 of the back seat if I need to.
(devil)
In that case, I think they have their catalogue in PDF form? I would definitely flip through and plan at least a few small furniture purchases! Personally, I love my shoe storage ones...

This is definitely on my list!! I really want the white, but I have espresso furniture in the living room, so I probably need to get the black/brown instead.
Some of our favorite items (besides cinnamon rolls)are paper napkins (we don't use them much, but we keep them around for people who expect them and we take them to my mom's house when we go for the holidays), dish brushes and bag clips. Kitchen ggadgets and utensils are a bit hit and miss but there are treasures in there.
They have good storage/organizational stuff.
The kids department has some cool toys. Their tents are fun.
Their tea lights used to be crazy cheap. I haven't bought any for awhile so I don't know if they still are. Batteries are cheap too.
They usually have good paper products at Christmas.
We just walk through the entire store and keep our eyes peeled for things we can't live without.
I've been meaning to rave about the Valby Ruta rugs for a while now. Not sure if they fit your aesthetic at all but they are great for the price. Surprisingly thick and soft. We bought 2 and then I went back for 2 more when they went on sale.

I have been there twice and pretty much only bought picture frames. It is so overwhelming! My first trip I bought nothing...lol. I guess its a good thing we live 5 minutes from there so I can pace myself.

I went to the one in Dallas like 3 years ago and was rushed through, but I did manage to buy a dresser, a night stand and a stuffed toy lol.
I'm going to go slowly this time and spend more money, I'm sure! Then I'm gonna go get me some Don Chilitos for lunch. It's a day emoH would HATE!

As I kid I knew the owners daughter and spent waay too much time at Don Chilitos. I can't set foot in there anymore.

I used to go a lot as a kid, but we went to Captain D's more often than Don Chilitos. My sister STILL gets a hot dog and dips the bun in cheese. And the sopapillas.. /drool
PSA: Don't waste your money on their wrapping paper, even if it's freaking gorgeous, unless you love taping corners when they rip.
HUH? All my favorite wrapping paper is from Ikea! Although they didn't have ANY last year and it killed me. I find it decently thick, a good amount to the roll. I used to always buy it for birthday presents as they had just nice bright solid colors, or solid with monochromatic metallic stripes.

Since you have kids, I think their children's stuff is adorable, especially some of the stuffed animals. Personally, I always like the kitchen area to browse through for trays, napkins, miscellaneous items but it can hit or miss.

I just don't find it to be sturdy, despite the thickness. Maybe I pull my paper too tight, but I ended up having to re-wrap at least three gifts last year due to the corners tearing out. I don't have that problem with Hallmark paper (the good stuff, not the crappy sold-somewhere-other-than-Hallmark stuff).

You can mix finishes you know. If you want the white then you should buy the white. There are simple ways to make it work.

I usually do that, but.. I don't know. I'm hesitant! It's weird.

Get the hot dogs!! ( and I don't usually eat hot dogs) They are near the door at the exit. You can get two hot dogs, chips, and a soda for $2. We usually stop there when we first get there. Then we get the cinnamon rolls on the way out... So good. But seriously, I would suggest making a list of anything you want to but or look at because it is so big there you get overwhelmed quick.
