I guess I was their second choice. The hiring manager said they all really liked me and that he is hoping to add another position soon - if he can work it so that they don't change the job description, they'd hire me without needing to interview again. So it sounds like I am REALLY their second choice and would have had the job if not for 1 person beating me out.
I'm pretty crushed. I have another interivew in an hour for a position somewhere else. The job sounds fine but this is not the best timing. I'd rather go home and drink wine and wallow a bit first.
If this job this afternoon doesn't work out, IDK what I'm going to do. I don't even have any other "real" options in the pipeline. I'm hoping this is partly because it's running into the holidays and I haven't seen as many things posted lately.
I'm sorry - the holidays are definitely a low point in hiring - end of year budgeting, everyone out of the office, etc. If something doesn't work out, hiring will pick up quite a bit in the new year, I'd put money on that.

I'm sorry.
H had a company very interested and they basically told him it would be after the first of the year before they would set an interview. So it's def not when people are looking to hire.
I'm so sorry. I am like you and would rather go home and wallow after getting the news, but you can rock this next interview.
And the lack of additional prospects is probably due to the end of the year. Schedules and budgets need to be worked out. Here's hoping 2015 is your best year yet!
And I got a letter in the mail that my shitty, shitty private health insurance is going up $40 a month in January! The insurance I will never use except in crisis because the deductible is so high!
Thanks guys. I think the interview this afternoon went fine. I actually ran into the candidate before me, and I know her! lol awkward.
This was just the first round, and they were interviewing several people, so who knows. The company sounds good and the pay is within the range I want, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I think it would be fine, but I'm bummed that it doesn't seem my job situation is leading me to something better than what I had before. Or even as good as what I had before. It sucks.
I try to be a good, kind person, and yet life is really not a success so far. Ugh.
sorry, @buckybells. I will say though, that a LOT of companies post positions like crazy in January once their fiscal year starts over and budgets renew. hang in there.
