I've been calling today to turn the utilities over to our name in our new house. I am used to having to pay a fee to establish service, but I think the water company's set-up is ridiculous. They charge $150 to establish service. If you pay your bills on time then you receive $130 of that back after TWO YEARS. So I ask the woman setting up service if I am late twice do I still get my money back? What about once? What's the threshold for getting my money back? She has no answers. I have a short trigger today, this put me in a bad mood.
Yeah yeah yeah. I think in the 10 years I've lived in my current house I have been late on the water bill one time right after DS1 was born and everything was in chaos. That just seems like a large amount of money to hold over someone's head!
I vaguely remember there being a fee when we first turned our water on, but it was, like, $30, and it had something to do with us being "new residents" to the township. Idk, this was almost 7 years ago, we get billed quarterly for sewers and water, AND the bill is never that high for us (We pay around $350 grand total for the year-broken down it barely works out to $30/month) so I'm totally spacing on the specifics.
