His boss is very difficult and everyone in the office agrees about that. Dh's problem is that he wouldn't back down and go along with bad ideas like the rest of them did. I knew they disagreed a lot but I didn't know it would come to this. The guy above him but below his boss is really upset and said he'd write dh a letter of recommendation.
I know some of this is dh's fault. He doesn't understand that sometimes you just have to be a yes man. But he worked really hard and always had good performance reviews. I guess this is the problem with little companies. No paper trail required.
He worked 6 years at his first job, got laid off the summer of 2013 (they say due to lack of work for him), got this job, worked for 18 months, and got fired. I'm so SO worried this is going to make him look bad to employers.
We have a 6 month emergency fund and some other easily accessible savings. We have the next 2 years of school tuition saved for each kid. We will be ok, but FUCK! HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO TAKE IN ONE YEAR?
And to top it off, he's going duck hunting. Now he needs to go more than ever because it's a networking trip. I won't even see his face until Sunday.
I'm so tired. I can't. Is the rest of my life just going to be one stomach dropping announcement/discovery after another?

6 years and 18 months will not look bad on his resume especially with a good reference from the shorter term job so try not to worry about that. Hope he finds something better soon.

Oh, stella. I want to give you a million hugs and tell you that everything will be ok. Because I do believe it will be, but it doesn't mean that you haven't had to be so strong for so long and I know you're weary. I'm sorry.
If you need anything, tell me. That's not lip service.
