I'm going to be honest here. If I were walking down the street and overheard some dude saying, "heh, look at that walking taco over there," I would probably think to myself, "wow, that is a really derogatory term for a woman."
But OH, taco ingredients in a chip bag? Makes sense. And sounds convenient.
I've had them places like camping, high school sporting events or fairs. Places where walking around with a regular taco would be too hard. Ok not really, places where we weren't using plates.
No, not a thing here. Never heard of it or the name.
After hearing about the description, I saw it once being served from a food truck at a fun 5K. I remember looking over and thinking "Did they just serve something in a Fritos bag?" I had a mixed feelings of joy and revulsion. I shivered and walked on.
The gas station Sheetz was pushing them pretty hard not too long ago. I won't get them from there, but made our own at home. Basically... it was nachos with Doritos. Mmmm.
totally off topic but you know Sheetz??!?!?!? Yay!
Yep! They moved down into NC a few years ago, and I quickly fell in love with their coffee. We're in SW VA now, and I was glad to see them here as well.
There is a whole Pinterest section devoted to Walking Tacos. (Of course, right). It's such an odd combination of classy and trashy -it's really weird to see.
ETA guyz. It's basically taco salad in a bag. And really? Everyone knows they are not comparable to real tacos. More like a smashed up American taco in a bag that you eat with a fork.

This is really popular with the sports/activities moms that provide team meals at the middle school where I teach. Easy, relatively cheap, MS kids love it, and very little clean up.

Walking Tacos are the 2nd most delicious fair food there is. (Elephant ears being #1!) Now I need to get the craving Outta my head for the next 8-10 months. (kicks pebbles)
