DS gets plenty of gifts from grandparents and other family, plus his birthday is in January. I've been aiming for about $150 total for him (he's almost 3).
and that budget probably puts 5 or 6 gifts under the tree for her.
And I think that's plenty? The only expensive things David wants are Legos so he gets one big set and several little sets. The books he reads are like $3 or $4 each.
I know when we start buying electronics we'll spend more but I'm putting that off as long as possible.
Too much. But they don't get toys (other than Legos or maybe something really small) throughout the year so I tend to go a little crazier at Christmas. Also, the grandparents don't go that crazy-they tend to give $$, so it's not like it's being made up elsewhere.
It varies so much year to year. Normally about 200, but sometimes double that if there is something big they really want.
It's funny, my mom thinks we are crazy, because they only bought us one gift each growing up, no stockings. DH was raised in Christmas madness house. We are aiming for a middle ground, lol

I spent about $450 total for both girls including stocking stuffers. This is the first year I spent a lot. I like buying them presents. I don't buy them toys throughout the year and didn't buy them toys for there (recent) birthdays.
About 200 including stocking stuffers plus she gets obscene amounts of gifts from both sets of grandparents since she's the only grandchild on both sides

It varies from year to year. For the 2 younger kids we try to stay around $100. The older kids we spend more because their stuff just costs more. We're spending about $250 on the 2 older kids, mostly on Legos and Kindle Fires.
Usually $100 per kid. It's about $50 this year, due to a super tight budget. They're both asking for a Playmobil castle so I've been on Ebay like crazy trying to find one we can afford. I love Christmas, but am feeling the pressure this year. DS is 6, so I feel like the magic of Santa is almost over with him and want to make it memorable!
I'm aiming for $200 to $250 this year, DS is 7. He has one "large" gift that will run me about $120 this year. When DS was 1,2,3 and 4 I spent around $50-$75, last year it was upped to $150.00.
We really try to limit what we do get him additionally our families at this point still send gifts so he really does make out in the end.
I bought some books recently and will wrap some for Christmas. That was about $20. I really think we’ll spend under $100 for him including books, socks and underwear. Oh and an ornament.
Make sure you are recording when he opens these gifts so you can capture his reaction.
FYI Shark Buyers Amazon has this for $24. Also, you have to fill it up with helium yourself at a party store. I was just about to buy this thing until I read that part. What a PITA.

I was thinking the exact same thing! WHAT THE F FARMER!? Get your kid a toy or somethin! booooooorrrrrriiiiiiiiing.

Ugh, that sucks. But now it makes more sense as to why it floats. (idea) Kind of expensive for a balloon!

I usually spend an insane amount like at least $500. This year it will be about $150. Her big gift was $65 and a shirt and then just stocking stuffers. She decided she doesn't really want presents this year because "she's already spoiled enough". Not sure who this kid is but I was floored in a good way. Works for me and her logic, that much extra to put away towards a car for her this summer.
It definitely costs more as he gets older. His first Christmas we got him nothing (my mom send a bunch of gifts so we put those under the tree. He was six weeks old, we were in survival mode, lol), the second we wrapped boxes of diapers and wipes and he had the most fun unwrapping it, the third I think we spent $50. As he gets older he definitely has specific wants AND it's just more fun as they get older and really get excited = spending way more money.
