I applied for Global Entry 2 days ago and was conditionally approved today and have an interview appointment on Monday. How long do the interviews usually last? What do they ask? How soon after the interview did you receive a decision?
I watched a video while waiting. Then I went to the "interview" and they took my picture for the card, took my fingerprints, explained how to use it, and then the guy talked to me about his daughter (same first name as mine) and we talked about our favorite trips. No real questions, took 5 minutes, and there's no approval process -- you'll walk out with your number which is all you need (unless you need to drive across the border, which is what you use the car for). Super easy.
AND OH MY GOD IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. THE. BEST.
One more thing, finley's fingers were too small for the fingerprinting process. This means the machines don't work for her when we come back into the country, we get sent to the front of the line, but it posses people off. Not sure if your kids are doing it.

Oh, good to know! We didnt apply for the kids yet because we wanted to see if DH was approved first. He had something on his record from 1993 (nothing criminal and was dismissed) but he'd heard that he could be denied anyway.

Damn you and your ability to get a quick appointment. DH has his global entry done and it's awesome. I finally got around to doing it and have an appointment in January.
He said it was about 5 minutes of form verification and fingerprints.
