Thank you soooo much for all the comments last night. It was a long night spent at the ER but luckily no surgery was needed.
After we confirmed it was broken at the ER by our house, we transferred to the Children's Hospital ER a bit south of us so they could determine if they wanted to do a reduction and cast it or splint it until the orthopedic appointment Monday morning.
We checked in a little after 6 and got taken to a room at 730. The ER was unusually crazy busy last night so we were there a long time. They gave her some meds for the pain. Eventually the doctor decided to do a reduction (they move the bones back in place then cast it). At 11 we started that and I got to watch it (dh was out in the hall. Lol). They knocked her out for it (poor girl hadn't been allowed to eat or drink since lunch time).
We finally got discharged at almost 1am. Dd was exhausted and went right to bed when we got home. She's up now but we've set her up in the corner of the couch and she's watching a movie. I have a feeling we're going to be watching a LOT of tv in the coming weeks.
I never would've thought she could break her leg like that just from the pack and play. I mean, it's much lower than a crib. lol. She just landed perfectly wrong.
Sounds like a long day for everyone!! I hope she doesn't have to be in the cast too long. A little boy I babysat was in a cast around that she and he adapted so well. Hopefully your daughter does too!!
btw I love that you included a picture of the X-ray!

Wow that's crazy break! I had to get my wrist set when I was 7 or so. Not fun!
For my DDs broken leg we cut some pants, but mostly just did leggings over it. We always put something on because it would scratch up our wood floors otherwise. (Like one of my knee socks.)
Did they say she had any restrictions? My DD didn't. She figured out how to walk on her cast in about 10 days. Before that the other girl I watched would push her around in a baby stroller.
Here's a photo of her standing after climbing on a play structure!
Poor baby. I am so sorry. Long trips to the ER are no fun at all. On a lighter note, A currently has a purple cast too.
Oh no! Is A ok? I missed that!
She fractured her tibia two weeks ago when she fell down the stairs. She is walking around like a champ now. It is amazing how quickly they bounce back.
To answer your question about pants, I have found that many of her leggings fit over the cast, pants that are boot cut and a little too big also work. I sent her to school in her uniform skirt with a knee sock on her good leg a couple of days last week.
