Our driving ban has been lifted, and our street is decently cleared of snow! Dh and I took the girls to the store just to get out, which was nice. I picked up groceries for next week, and decided to bake some things to keep myself busy. The main roads are pretty clear, but a lot of side streets still haven't been touched...it's actually quite sad. I couldn't imagine being stuck in my house with 7 feet of snow on my street, while others get to roam freely. We've decided to stay put until at least tomorrow (weird to be saying that, especially because I wanted to get out of the house so badly). It's just not worth the frustration, and I feel bad for the crews that are still trying to work...there's no need to be in their way.
The next couple of days are sure to be interesting, considering we're expecting a lot of rain, and temperatures in the 60s on Monday. Now everyone is worried about flooding, which is obviously a big possibility. Good ole Buffalo weather. 7ft of snow one day, spring like weather the next.
Thanks again for dealing with my complaining. 5 days is just too long to be cooped up in the house with literally nowhere to go.
Yaayyyyy!! So glad you're out! Did you go to wegmans? I was wondering how crazy they might be. I'm thinking of going tomorrow.
Thanks, me too!
We went to Tops because it's closer and we still weren't sure how the roads would be. Wegman's is normally crazy, so I'm sure it will be the rest of the weekend. Love it there!!
I have been watching the reports on the evening news. Incredible. Although I must confess, during all the arial coverage shots, I was looking at the houses and wondering if one of them was yours... Is that creepy?

A few years back the Metrodome collapsed here after 12+ inches of snow and I thought society was on the verge of disarray. I can't even comprehend that much snow. As an architect my first thought was roofs collapsing, so I hope that isn't an issue for you guys.

Not creepy at all. We've had so many helicopters around our house, that I do the same thing!

I am glad you are free and the worst is over!
There have been quite a few roof collapses since the storm, and now that the rain/warmer temps are coming, they're really urging people to try and clean their roofs off. Some schools are closed until December 1st because they want to check out the buildings to make sure they're safe.
