Have you tried Curls Unleashed curl cream? Its a little lighter than my beloved Kinky Curly. I find the crunchy thing is frequently a result of using too much if you wanna give whatever you have on hand another shot.
IDK about the TJ's conditioner. I didn't know that was even a thing.
Curls Unleashed is good. I use the Curl Refresher on Naomi's hair from time to time. It REALLY defines her curls. I probably should use it more often because it does well. Also, no crunch with it. That's the reason I dislike Eco Styler and Kinky Curly. I don't want crunchy curls.
What's this about your twist outs not working since we're in this thread. LOL

Have never hear of that.... I'll have to check Amazon.
CVS carries it. The Curl Refresher is really awesome on my 2nd & 3rd day hair.
ETA: I would stay away from the leave in, though. It works fine but smells like ass.

I have yet to find a conditioner that I'm really income with, and since I tend to stay on the short side, not that motivated to find "the one"
Lately, I've been using ORSs hair repair and like that.
As for LIC, I like Talijah Wajid's Body Mistifier. I also really like KeraCare's Natural Texture LIC. I actually like that whole line, and use the shampoo regularly. The curling custard is really good, and defines curls well.

Oyin's juice and berries is a non-oil LIC that works really well. I like their brown sugar pomade for moisture. It does give me good definition for my short curls.
I have not tried their Boing product, but I have seen someone who used it. It worked really well.
Unfortunately, Boing can't be bought at Target, like the other stuff, but you can get it from their site and maybe CurlMart
I use TJ's nourish spa condtioner sometimes. It's good for the price, but I don't think it's OMG, amazing! No help with the Wash n Go, because I wear two strand twists or a twist out 100% of the time.
Did anyone have any experience with Curls at Target? I'm embarking on a new quest to find something that works better for Naomi. Her hair is FOREVER dry. I think Shea Moisture is fine for her shampoo, but everyday styling ain't getting it for her.
@246baje on the weeks that I'm wearing my puff, I take about 5 min. In the shower to co-wash and about 3 minutes putting in products and pulling my hair into a puff. I do this daily but sometimes I don't actually wash, just wet my hair in the shower.
When I do braid/teistouts, I wash once a week and it takes about 45 min to detangle and twist. I usually pineapple so it takes me 5 minutes each morning to moisturize and style.
Overall, it doesn't take me any longer than when I was relaxed. I just replaced the blow drying and flat ironing with detangling and twisting.

- what is pineapple?
Just pulling it up in a loose high ponytail, curls are out of the way but not tight. I spend about 45 mins on wash days to wash and put in the product. Daily I mist and shake it out. I wash/co-wash twice a week.

To pineapple, put your hair up in a loose pony at the top of your head so that the hair sprouts out like the leaves of a pineapple. Then you wrap a scarf around your hair. It preserves the curl so you don't have to re-twist every night. I'm on my phone but I'll see if I can find a video.
This is exactly what I do including the bonnet. If I have some oil nearby, I'll rub some through my hair before putting it up, but I'm lazy about my hair so that doesn't always happen.

She means Grapefruit, just google Grapefruit method.
Loose natural ladies how long do yall spend per week/per day on your hair?
I think 2015 is going to be the year I let go of my locks. Currently I wash once a week - 15 mins. If I palmroll my locks it takes me 30 mins to do my entire head, 10 just to do the front and edges if I'm in a rush.
In the mornings I'll run a brush through it (to get any stray lint) and throw it in a ponytail or a pinless up do. That takes about 5 mins.
I know that loose natural hair requires more time. I'm just wondering how much more. I don't plan to go to a salon.
Personally, I think the longer your hair is, the more time it requires. This is why although I loved Mega Fro Status, I just don't have time to twist my hair every few days. I'm usually only home Mon and Tues. And even then two of those Tuesdays are spent in late night meetings.
With my current hair cut (tapered and short), I usually shampoo and condition one night a week. I then detangle and twist my hair. That twist out takes me through the entire week until I shampoo again. I don't care much about shrinkage or elongating curls, blah, blah. I don't try to fight with my hair. If it wants to be big - then go head. So my twist outs tend to grow bigger over the week. My shampoo and condition and twist process usually takes about an hour and a half. I usually do it around 9:00pm and by the time I'm finished, I've watched an episode of the West Wing on Netflix and the evening news.
During the week, I spritz my hair with the Curl and Shine Mist (Shea Moisture), and smooth on the SM Curl and Style Milk and I'm out the door. Nothing fancy, because I'm lazy. LOL

I love it for my DD's hair but it would never work for me. And it smells good.

I picked up a couple of travel size bottles of the curl revitalizer and the style creme. It seemed like it hydrated her hair a little better than the SM. Her hair is so THICK. Jesus, I thought my hair was thick.
nuggetbrain Did you ever try the Cantu Leave In conditioner? That's my favorite right there.
This is what I use.
I've started using the curl cream because it's heavier and I like it with the LOC method. I still use the leave-in too but I'm starting to prefer the curl cream. Both products are great IMO.

I agree with all this. I'll add that the level of defined curl/spiral/etc and style desired also add to the time. I used to work in an environment where I felt I needed to keep my hair "tame" so I put in a lot if effort to make sure my hair didn't get too big. That required more frequent and smaller twists/braids. I would also spend time on doing styles that required hair pins or head bands or something else to keep things laid down.
Now I just let it get bigger and bigger as the week goes on. I also start with bigger twists (which saves time) so the starting point is big hair. I no longer stress about how my hair falls so I don't spend time pulling sections down or back and pinning.
ETA: I just saw @246baje post about working in corporate. It depends on hair type, but natural hair doesn't have to be big. If I do French braids for a braid out, my hair will fall down and not out like a fro. There are many natural styles that don't result in big hair.

Good to hear this. I was thinking of picking it up. The fact that it's not that expensive is a bonus for my product junkie tendencies.

I didn't like it at first but I think was using too much. I slop on the leave in and was doing the same with curl cream. No bueno.

I typically spend anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours deep conditioning my hair. Another 30 minutes washing or cowashing. Then I spend about an hour and a half twisting my hair. I run 4-5 times per week, take out the twists after my hardest workout (tuesday or Wednesday), and wear a twist out the rest of the week. Wash, rinse, repeat every weekend.
Also - it probably sounds like all the washing and twisting is daunting, but I still wouldn't go back to the creamy crack. All day in a dayum shop under a hot ass dryer? No thank you.

I will never relax again. I am tenderheaded and my last relaxers were done in Jamaica where they believe that basing your scalp makes the relaxer not take. I have strong memories of the chemical burns even though it was 15 years ago.
The thing for me is that it wasn't even that or my relaxed hair was unhealthy. My beautician did a marvelous job at keeping it healthy. But, I got tired of waiting all day. And when T said she prefered her hair in all it's curly, kinky glory, I thought - well dayum. If an 8 year old can be happy with the hair God gave her, then I can too.
Plus - it's three girls in my house. That's a $100 beauty shop visit just for a wash and set. Relaxers? $150. Nope. Not doing it. #cheap
