Yes, in the living room and family room. Our house is very open and I think the table is needed to ground things (we have carpet, so rugs don't work). In our last house, we put the table away when DS1 got a little bigger so he would have more room to play. The room still looked fine, but it was a small room.
Yes, and it stone (Quartz) & steel! My babies are tough! Lol. Actually in our other living space, we have an upholstered ottoman but the older kids mostly use that space.
We just moved it out of the room since our family room now functions as a makeshift daycare center, lol. Every morning we lay down a blanket where it used to be and scatter a few toys for the babies to play with. It lives in our living room now. We'll move it back and babyproof it after DS starts at his center. I miss it terribly since there's nowhere to comfortably set a drink now.
catbus, I grew up with an expensive glass-top table and it was great. We could color on the top to our hearts content and it just wiped right off. Never had a problem and my sis is the most accident prone person I know. It's still sitting in my mom's living room.
Our old coffee table was a death trap. Sharp corners, on wheels, and 3 glass panes that could be removed by pushing up from the bottom. Pretty much the trifecta of danger.
We ditched it for a cheapo bonded leather storage ottoman. Great for putting up your feet and diaper changes, not much else. We are actually about to move it upstairs and bring the PB train table I bought from a consignment store downstairs in its place. It's dark wood so it'll blend but DD loves the hard surface for legos and coloring.
we did until R decided he liked crawling under it and lifting it with his legs. one day he got strong enough/work the right angle to tip it over. conveniently, that same day a friend was saying how he kept looking for a nice coffee table at thrift stores for his apartment, but couldn't find anything he liked. it was out the door and in his car in a hot second.
we miss the footstool aspect and keep looking for poofs to serve that purpose because they'd be a lot easier/smaller to move around, just haven't found anything we love that we're willing to sacrifice to the looming toddler tornado.
even if we had a table that R couldn't tip over i think we would have gotten rid of it. we have such limited space in our apartment and the coffee table was constantly getting shoved around so he had space to roll around and play. it was only going to get worse as he got more mobile.
But we don't have kids. And we only have one living space.
this was a huge sacrifice for h and i in getting rid of our coffee table, lol. we either have to hold our plates (THE HORROR!) or eat in the kitchen (DOUBLE HORROR!).
my mom was so scandalized when she first visited and we sat down to eat in the living room. that's apartment life. not all of them come with adequate eating areas.

We use tray tables. Classy I know but at least I can hide them before/after.
SS- we have one but right now it's acting as the tv stand. If we ever get the hardwoods installed and our actual entertainment unit back in the living room, I think we'll get rid of it. I have come to really like the space we have from not having one.
Yes, and our lives revolve around it. It's a massive wooden thing that an adult could tap dance on. It serves as a footrest, dinner table, place to fold laundry while watching movies, play table, jungle gym, and there are baskets under it for toys. It could stand to be stripped and refinished, but I'll get around to that some day. We'll likely never get rid of this thing. We love it.
Yes, until DD became a champion roller. Then we had to swap it for 2 ottomans with the flip cover trays. DD can't reach the far corner of the tray yet so that's where I set my coffee and wine. The rest of the tray is coated in a light Puffs dusting.
We're getting rid of ours when we move in a few weeks. It's a cheap Ikea table and it took a beating in our condo. We're not planning on replacing it so the kids have more room to play in the family room.
Yes. It's glass and has rounded edges and corners. DD likes to cruise around it and play under it.
We have no plans to get rid of it. It's strong enough for her withstand her climbing on it, although obviously I'd prefer she not. If/when she starts hardcore jumping on it we might have to temporarily relocate it.
Had a train table as a coffee table for a while but it didn't fit in our new place.
I'd like a coffee table but our space is limited and like others it's a hazard with how my kids use our living space. They'll be time for coffee tables when they are older. We do have a pouffe that is great as a foot rest or as a little seat for the kids. I might get a second.
Not anymore. We moved it to the basement after J was born. It took up too much space in our small apartment and we needed thr floor space for him to play. Once we moved to our house we brought it back out but then it became a hazard for a wobbly toddler so we gave it away.

We have one, but it's currently pushed up against the fireplace hearth to help block it from DD. The hearth is all rough brick, so it's more of a death trap than the coffee table is.
We have 2 living areas we use equally. The tv room has a coffee table, the living room used to but we put it off to the side when ds1 was learning to walk (aka hurt himself spectacularly) and we just never put it back in front of the couch.
