Hahaha, I am such a jaded fan this year, don't worry. We are going to get our butts kicked. I know Marmee is an alum. I think @shoegal might be a fan too?

I'm from right south of Toledo, and now live in Detroit (where my DH was born.) Neither of us give a rats ass about football, and neither of us went to OSU or UM, but everyone always assumes there is a in-home rivalry with us. People buy him UM gear and me OSU gear. It's annoying.
@starry - I know a ton of die hard OSU fans who have likely never stepped foot on the campus. It's almost creepy. It's like a religion.

Ditto!
I am from Michigan. I didn't go to U of M. (One of my cousins did. My brother and more of my cousins went to MSU...so no deep connections to any state school.) I still feel, though, just by virtue of growing up in Michigan that I need to dislike Ohio State, LOL. When my friends from home lived in southern Ohio for a few years, people kept telling them to change their plates so their cars didn't get vandalized.
Michigan fan here...although also a RU fan so when they beat UM I was quite conflicted, lol. My Dad is from MI so I grew up a huge UM fan, RU is my alma mater.
I love being on campus during Michigan week. There are so many fun and random things going on. There's a ton of food, toy, and blood drives to see which school cans donate the most. Or, my favorite, a student group puts red tape through every M on campus. I'm talking signs, building engravings, dining hall menus--everything.
@starry, yeahhh the osu in my SN is definitely Ohio (instead of Oklahoma or Oregon, both of which I've gotten in the past)...I'm not as rabid a fan as the use of it in my SN implies though. And I spent 8 years living in SE Michigan, part of that time as ::gasp:: a UM fan. Much to my husband's chagrin So I don't share the hatred for UM or the state of MI as a whole like many Ohio State fans do.
And yeah, in my experiences the truly assholish OSU fans that give those of us that are normal bad names are ones that didn't go to Ohio State (and often not to college at all). So I feel ya there.

I-O!
Couldn't leave that hanging out there like that. :-)
I am a Michigan resident who doesn't care about football. I do find many U of M fans to be obnoxious. That being said, I predict that U of M is going to win against Ohio State. Wouldn't that be something? Suck the whole season and then pull it out for the biggest game of the year?
I'm a Miami grad and have always been indifferent to OSU. I don't remember anyone liking OSU down here in southern Ohio while I was growing up. It's different now.
My DH however, grew up in c-bus and then went to UC. So he's been surrounded by OSU asshole fans his whole life and he HATES Ohio State more than anything in the whole world. Hate hate hate lol.
That being said, he has no problem with fans like you @starry, you're an alum. It's all the passive OSU fans that can't understand why he's a UC fan that really get him going.
holly116 I got my BA at OSU and my MA at UC...I get it from both sides sometimes, like when they played each other earlier this season most of my cousins on my dads side are UC alums so there's always fun smack talking at the family Christmas party. Even more so because they're all Bengals fans (as am I) and Jason is a diehard browns fan.
