I'm going to make my caption "finally forward facing" when I turn DD1. She's 3 and we probably won't turn her until she's 4 lol
I can't even look at carseat pictures because I get irrationally angry about how stupid they all are specifically the ones who I've flat out told they were putting their kids in incorrectly (people from playgroup).
I still think about the pic I saw on FB of a boy who just turned 3. He was "sitting" in a high back booster using the seatbelt. He was passed out after his first day of school and was completely slumped over sideways, with the seatbelt right across his neck. If they had been in even a minor accident, it could have been REALLY bad.
The mom would absolutely NOT be receptive to my concerns.

I hear the squished thing all the time, so moms have in my group have turned their kids already. DD is one of the tallest and oldest and still RF. She will be at least 2.5 before I consider switching her. I'd love to get further, so we'll see.

Someone tried to tell me the squished excuse in person when we were in a parking lot. I just opened my car door and pointed to my 3 year old who is in the carseat with the least amount of legroom RFing (recaro proride).
I am such a bitch. I'm surprised I still have friends hahaha

I never see carseat photos on FB. We are still rearfacing. I did have someone tease me about it a while back (I don't think DS was even 2 yet) but I said something about internal decapitation and she hasn't mentioned it since. I keep thinking about turning him, but I'm just not ready yet. I don't think he knows that forward facing is even a thing.
My friend was showing me pictures of her baby. The straps were way too loose and the chest clip was way too low. I kept my mouth shut. (Same friend mentioned that her doctor said no chocolate, caffeine, or booze while BFing. Oh. Okay.)
Another friend couldn't get her infant base installed so she just does belt install every time with the seat. I guess she could be installing it correctly every time, but I'm going to go with no since she didn't bother to figure out the base.
I'm such a judgey asshole considering our infant seat is sitting here waiting for me to install it before baby arrives.

Some of the forward vs rear facing issues is that there are still pediatricians who tell people they can turn kids at 1. A's pedi said, "You can technically turn her forward facing" and I just told him we weren't doing that.
DH is bugging me about it lately. I haven't sent him any info yet, buy maybe I should.

H's pedi told us it was okay to turn FF at 1. Granted this was 3 years ago. I didn't do much research beyond that advice. I plan to ERF with C. You do better when you know better.

Our pediatrician told us the same thing. When we went for our 2-year appointment, the tech who was taking his vitals was asking other "safety" questions, and asked if he was in a forward-facing convertible (probably making sure he wasn't in a booster), and I said, no, he's rear facing. And she looked surprised.
He's 3 now, and I think close to maxing out the rear-facing weight limit (his well visit is on Tuesday). I'm nervous about forward-facing him.
So our pedis (we've had 2) have never asked about car seats.... ever.
Hell, no one checked our seat or anything when we left the hospital either (both times).
At my hospital, we're not allowed to help with car seat install or check to see if its installed right.
Seems kinda silly, but its a liability issue since we're not certified car seat techs. If we tell you, "Sure, looks good!", and then something happens, it could come back on us.
I initially ignored these things, but then I thought "if something happened and I had kept my mouth shut how would I feel?" So I started saying something to friends. Never in the public feed, but in person/phone/or message.
I wish people would stop posting pictures of their kids in car seats, it drives me nuts! One girl on my feed turned her infant carrier FF on the baby's 1st birthday and somehow buckled it in that way.

I still cringe at my sil. Her girls came to visit us when they were 2.5 and 4.5. The older one was only in a booster and I gave her a car seat for the 2.5yo and she only buckled the bottom of the 5 pt harness cuz "she doesn't use a car seat like this at home".
Our pedi repeatedly told us that DS should RF until at least 2. We had to turn him at 23 months because he outgrew the height limit on his Britax Marathon (grumble grumble).

I get being horrified when people don't use seats correctly but I don't understand the horror of using seats correctly just bc it's not a seat you would use at that age.

What's wrong with the seatbelt install?
Absolutely nothing! I just don't have much, if any, confidence that this particular friend is doing it correctly.
A 4 year old can safely sit in a backless booster if their head is still supported by their seat, and the seatbelt crosses properly.
I also can't get up in arms about forward facing at one. Yes it's safer to RF, but man, this seems to have turned into a race of "who can RF the longest".
