I love oatmeal and eat it most days for breakfast. I'm starting to think mine is too high calorie/fat cause I load it up with so many goodies - chia, walnuts, almond butter, maple syrup, etc.
How do you make it that may not be a calorically-dense as mine!

I make either rolled oats or steel cut oats with milk, fruit (either banana or apple), some nuts, cinnamon and vanilla extract. It's around 300-375 calories.
I am kind of boring with oatmeal. I just make the quaker non-instant kind with water, and add 2 tsp of brown sugar and a liberal amount of cinnamon. Usually I eat 1 serving of oatmeal and make two eggs on the side for a total of 310 cal.
I just stick to fruit and a tiny scoop of almond butter. But OMG, there is nothing more delicious than loaded oatmeal! I made some oatmeal baked muffin cups for our road trip and made half with cranberries and chocolate chips....delish!

Steel cut oats, load in a bunch of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries (fresh in season, frozen when not). If I need to, I'll throw in a tiny bit of brown sugar or cinnamon.

I throw some cinnamon and tiny bit of granola in for crunch. Or sometimes just to shake it up, if I have left over brown rice, the next morning I'd make hot rice cereal with cinnamon and raisins.
