I have a friend (using the term loosely) who I told about IVF because she's also trying and may need intervention etc. Anyway, yesterday, I finally told her I'm pregnant. I said "I have some exciting news! Maddie is getting a playmate soon. The baby is due May 29". Then she freaks and congratulates and asks me how many. I was confused and said, um, just one. She says how unusual it is for just one baby and I'm like, wtf does she think IVF is but I go ahead and share the ultrasound pic anyway. Five seconds later, she goes - OMG SEQUINS, I THOUGHT MADDIE WAS PREGNANT.
OMGGG, I laughed so so so hard. It's been a day or two and I still randomly think about it and laugh. How does one even come to this conclusion, omg, lol.

Ha!
We gathered both sides of the family together to announce our first. DH set up to make a toast and told everyone we had news. Both sets of parents thought we were getting a dog. People are weird.
My brother got a puppy the day before we got our BFP. To tell my parents our news, I brought a balloon that said "Baby" and a onesie that said I love my grandparents. They thought the balloon was to celebrate the new puppy and the onesie was a dog outfit.
I am still confused about their reaction given that they knew we were doing IF treatments that month!
LOL. Be honest, Maddie snuck out one night, didn't she? That WHORE!
, lol. The poor thing is spayed AND I just remembered!! Last year, this same friend lectured me on how sad it is that maddie will never have a baby of her own.

Oksy since I am about 5 minutes old in GBCN years, this had my scratching my head. I looked at your ticker, and sat there for 5 minutes going "This bitch thought Sequins' 1 year old daughter was pregnant? WTF?!" And then I realized Maddie is a dog.
We told my inlaws with a framed photo that said "grandkids" on it with a picture of my nephew and our ultrasound pic. They thought the ultrasound pic was a pic of the dog...!

So umm...yeah...Make that two idiots! LOL.
OMGGG. There is a dog in the ticker. There is an elephant in the pregnancy ticker, so I can see your confusion, lolol.
When we announced to DHs extended family last year we did it by the pup wearing a tshirt that said new job- guard dog may 2014 and most of his family thought we were getting a puppy. :/

I don't get why people get so confused. We announced on facebook with a photo with one of our dogs, sitting next to him is a pair of baby shoes and the caption was saying "I am getting a baby brother!". Apparently one of my friends was confused and thought my two dogs (spayed and neutered) were having puppies. I guess dogs have 2 legs now and refer to their offsprings as brothers?!
When my brother told me that he was going to have a daughter, I really thought he meant he was getting a dog. When we told the rest of my family, every single person asked what type of dog he was getting. He's not the type that I ever thought would have a child, so a dog was the only thing that made sense.
We told my grandmother and great aunt by putting an ultrasound pic inside a big plastic egg in their Easter baskets. When they opened, they both just stared at them. When I asked what they thought it meant they didn't know. One asked if it was a cat and the other some sort of alien?
Lesson learned - they had never seen ultrasound pictures before. They of course didn't hAve them back when my grandmother was pregnant and my great aunt has never had kids. Oops!
