I love to bake & make fun treats, but somehow I cannot get the hang of making things dipped in chocolate. Cake balls & truffles always turn out like that for me. I gave up! I agree with pp's though, they probably still taste great!
Melting low and slow is the trick, and some brands just work better than others. I can't ever get the candy melts thin enough for dipping. You can also try a bit of veggie oil to help thin it out. But it will make the balls "sweat" (twss).
If you put them in the fridge in an air tight container they'll be fine for Thursday.
Mine look like that a lot. I still never have leftovers. It helps to set it on a fork to dip it in, and then once it dries, just break off some of the big edges.
