Full disclosure: I ran this race because I saw last year's race results and really fast women in my age group didn't show up. I thought there might be a chance to place and I've needed an ego boost. Well, I was right! My previous PR was 26:35, and today I got a 26:05. That was good enough to give me 1st place in my age group! My Garmin said 25:59, and those 6 seconds are making me crazy! So now I've got to run a December 5k to try to find 6 more seconds.

Congrats on the PR and age group award, it is crazy how even when we do well we want more, more, more!! Enjoy your PR and worry about the 6 seconds later:)

Congrats!
As a (sort of) funny aside, I do the same thing - checking the results of prior years to size up the competition. We did a 5k a few months ago where I thought I could easily win my age group, the times were a lot higher than my PR and what I typically run a 5k in. Well I did get second in my age group, but it turns out the course is almost a quarter mile long, hence the higher times!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
