Yes, I know, our LOs don't watch TV here on MMM(, but say, hypothetically, you LOs do, when did your LO really start to watch the TV? And is that when you started to put on cartoons or more education stuff or did you always have cartoons/education stuff on? Or did you turn the TV off once they started to really watch the TV?

DD is 16 mo and is ob-freaking-cessed with tv. We only put it on for about 30-45 min a day. It's on the Baby First channel, so all educational, 3-5 minute shows.
She started watching at a year, but only became obsessed in this last month. She whines and points at the tv if it's off until she's distracted.
When did I get pregnant? LOL. Maybe a month ago so 17ish months. He started waking up pretty early after daylights savings time ended so we started letting him watch an episode of Daniel Tiger. I think he actually only likes the opening credits thus far but he now asks us to turn it on so we're still trying to figure out our tv boundaries.

Did paid no attention to tv until 18 months. I find she watches it on the iPad but not the big tv. She likes Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse club Even the she get bored after about 20 mins
i watched tv during the day until L started to notice it, which was at 5 months.
it is off unless i turn on mickey for her, which is only 1 episode, 1-2x a week.
i want her to be glued to the tv if i turn it on for her because i am using tv to my advantage. if we have a long day and i need a break it's nice to sit down and have her be calm.
We don't have cable, but I let him watch You Tube videos on my phone when I need a break or we are in the car and he's freaking out. I remember when DS was 6 months old my CWer's wife asked what DS's favorite show was (they have a daughter his age) - I didn't know how to answer lol.

This. She's a total zombie when I turn on the tv, so I only have it on in the morning, while I have coffee in peace, while I'm making dinner (always quick stuff), or need a break.
Ds is 25 mos and didn't really care until 4 months ago. Now he is obsessed with daniel tiger. Good and bad. We have to really limit it or he would watch hours every day.

DD1 started watching TV around 16 months or so. I remember that I still refused to let her watch any TV at 14 months (we took a long car trip and I wouldn't buy kid DVD's for her to watch). And I know she was Elmo obsessed by the Christmas where she was 17 months.
DD2 has just been around a lot more kid shows because she's kid #2. She's 17 months, and she's so obsessed with Elmo that any time she can find a TV remote she picks it up, points it at the TV, and starts saying, "Momo (aka Elmo)! Momo! Momo!" and trying to turn it on herself. I think she started actually watching it around a year. But she has always paid more attention to DD1's shows than she has to adult shows.
I started turning on Sesame Street kind of early for DD2 because I think it's educational and that it's actually more aimed at older kids, so I thought DD1 would benefit from watching the number and letter lessons, but she refused because it was a baby show. So I would ostensibly turn it on for DD2 before she was a year just so DD1 would watch something other than Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
DS1 watches TV and has from an early age I'm not really worried or feel bad about it DS1 loved Thomas from around 18 months to 2.5. Around 2 he could probably sit thru all of the Cars movie and we saw Frozen for the first time in the theater and he made it the whole movie. Around 2.5 we started watching more Nick Jr. Shows esp since I was PG and SO sick.

For the most part DS has zero interest in tv, although it is on for background noise a lot. I keep thinking that he will start to become interested, and DH and I decided that this is when we will turn the tv off. But I do worry that he does hear/absorb more than we actually think he does by having it on as background noise.

My twins have been TV zombies since the day they were born, so we kept it off until about 2 years old and then they fell in love with Dora and Bubble Guppies. Now at 4 years old, they get about an hour per day.
DS2 is the opposite. He's never paid attention to TV even though at this point I'd love for him to sit still for a show. He won't watch anything. It's exhausting.

We started letting M watch Daniel Tiger a few months ago. In the last month or so he has become obsessed with all things electronic. He screeches in delight if we leave the office open. He runs in there and tries to climb DH's desk to get to the ipad or computer. And now if he hears us say Daniel Tiger he runs to the TV and starts dancing. We really only let him watch about 1-2 hours/week (when not sick or traveling) so I'm surprised at how crazy he gets over all of it.

I am lax on TV. DS really started to pay attention at 18 mo. We are both crabby right after we get home, so DS gets a 10 minute Thomas the Train and then the Chica Show comes on at 5:45 for 12 min.
Then music is on until bed, because Tommy and ChiChi have gone to sleep.
On weekends, I watch what I want and DS mostly ignores, except for pet commercials.
H bought DS a bunch of 2nd hand Thomas trains today. He played with them for 4! hours and is sleeping with one right now. So I love Thomas.

DS doesnt pay attention to TV when we have it on in the house, unless its a weather report in the morning while I'm watching the news. I think its the colorful maps and graphics he likes.
I do try and put on tv when he wakes up super early to occupy him. But he will watch for 60sec then get bored.

We finally started a bit at age three. DS watches stuff on sprout so Thomas or Bob the builder. We also sometimes do Daniel tiger. He gets 10-25 minutes based on the show and is only allowed to watch on sat/sun before breakfast.
J started watching music videos on the iPad around 18 mos. Just a few minutes a day. Around 22 mos or so he would watch a few minutes of sesame Street or mickey mouse clubhouse when I was nursing in the afternoons after I picked him up from daycare. He would not make it through an entire episode.
Since around age 2 he has watched one show after his nap. Usually a mickey mouse clubhouse or the short film The Snowman so it's usually about 30 minutes.
At this point, 29 mos, he would watch TV (sesame street or nursery rhyme music videos to be exact)all day if I let him. He is obsessed with music videos!

Around 18 months I let H watch Elmo, 10 minutes here and there. We were moving and I needed him to stay put while I packed. After that he would watch Thomas the train. Probably 30-60 minutes a day/ 4 days a week when he was around 2yo.

I waited until Nod's was two before we let her watch tv, but she did her to watch an occasional you tube video of airplanes flying or happy. She got Rio for her birthday and probably watches it like twice a week. She will also "watch" Gilmore girls with me in the afternoon sometimes. Bite that she is 2 we stunt track her tv time, but I don't our in cartoons for her either.
Now that Ace us becoming more aware of tv, I'll probably have to skip my Gilmore girls and only let her watch Rio when he is asleep.

I had it on when he was really little. He started watching shows when he was 18/19 months .... Winter, small apartment and I was pregnant. We only watch shows that are on amazon prime and only after nap: he can watch Sesame Street, Curious George and Thomas the train and only an hour max unless he's sick or I am. Car trips are an exception to the rule. He wakes up hard after nap and we typically snuggle on the couch whilst watching.

Around 18 months. She loves Dora, Doc McStuffins and Mickey Clubhouse. We watch about 1 episode a day. We also have books from the TV shows and I talk about the shows and sing the songs sometimes during the day so that seems to help her like the shows more.
I get him to sit still for about 10-20 minutes of Daniel Tiger or Baby Signing Time. Sometimes. We also watch youtube clips of The Muppets, or Elmo's word of the day with celebrities.
We did Daniel Tiger maybe once or twice a week when he was like ... 11m? His TV time has gone up a little since then, but not much.
DD1 loved TV from the moment she first noticed it when she was just over a year. At that age her favorite shows were the short Baby Boost nursery rhyme videos OnDemand, and she also loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Now at 7 she'd watch TV all day if we let her (but thankfully now she loves to read instead).
DD2 had no interest in TV until she was over 2, and even now at 4 she gets bored if she's been watching more than a couple shows. DS is 15 months and still completely uninterested. Last week was the first time he's ever sat on the couch to watch TV with me, and that was only because he was sick.

I keep thinking that he will start to become interested, and DH and I decided that this is when we will turn the tv off. We are here too. He will occasionally pay attention to football but I think it's the colors he's attracted to. We put on the Toddler Tunes music channel for background noise when he plays on the floor and DS has no interest in watching it.
Our nanny puts on cartoons during the day and I debate with myself whether it's a hill to die on. It's her DD that truly watches them. DS will be in a center at 6.5 months without TV so does it really matter if they're on as background noise right now? He pays attention for 5-10 second snippets, but again, I think it's the colors he likes. If they help her juggle two kids, and DS isn't really watching...

DS1 got hooked on PBS Kids around 15-16 months I think. I started turning it on in the morning because he woke up earlier than I was ready to parent and he fell in love with Clifford the big red dog.

Am I kidding myself here?
At 6.5 months, I was still watching the news in the mornings and my LO never paid any attention. I stopped watching at a about a year when he was noticing - I don't think it's caused him any harm.
We didn't introduce TV until after age 2. So he was old enough to have a pretty good attention span. He loves Disney & Pixar movies. If I only need to kill 30 mins or so, I put on Curious George.
