Well, is it the smooth kind of glass? No, that should be fine. Is it the textured shit that? It probably won't stain, but it will be a bitch to get off.

I did have an issue recently with window clings discoloring my glass door, though. I think it's because the door gets full sun all day & it gets really hot. I've never had an issue with them on my north-facing door. It's mostly gone now, but was a pain!

Oh, yeah. Those fuckers melt in sunlight. You can get it off, but it sucks. We thought we got them all, but then found a puddled mess on DD's window. Ahhhhh!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Grumble.
I did a tissue paper "stained glass" window using glue, water and colored tissue paper on wax paper and set it in a framework for our book fair (I used railroad board, similar to poster board but slightly thicker). I highly suggest not using the glue and just using water to stick small pieces to the glass if you're going the "direct to glass" route. I believe I have a pic on my phone but not on the computer so c'est la vie.
My grandparents had a housing complex once upon a time. I still remember taking off layers upon layers of tissue paper applied in tiny pieces all across the entry wall. Shit does not come off easily if you use glue or modge-podge or anything similar.
I think it will be fine but remember glass is porous and there may be small remnants left behind you may need to work out.
