I had to buy a notebook with graphing paper for a math class once upon a time. It turned out to be one of my favorite purchases. I have moved A LOT and I always draw out layouts before I move in to help brainstorm.
I plan on eventually redoing my master bathroom and took the measurements for the layout. I want a bigger shower and to get rid of the massive jacuzzi tub that is never used. I still want two sinks for H and I. Each square represents a sq ft.
This is just for fun and an excuse to procrastinate on a Monday
Key: -Boxes with dots are doors. The double doors lead to the master bedroom and the single door on the other side leads to the closet. -The box with dashes is a fogged window. -Vanities are the rectangles with circles (sinks) -The thing around the shower is a ledge that matches the style of the trim.
I definitely do. I laid out my kitchen tiles on graph paper, and have already laid out the nursery (we already have all the furniture except the crib, which will be a hand me down from my sister).
I also bought my graph paper back in college, when I was a failing engineering student.
I took a couple interior design classes in high school and loved doing this! I miss it. I think if I had some talent, I totally would love doing this for a living!
My mom showed me how she would draw out a room and cut out pieces for furniture so she could try different layouts before moving all the furniture. I need to try that since I'm not sure how I'm going to layout everything at the new house.
I'm trying to do this now for our new house. I'm getting so frustrated!
Are you planning to have any tub at all when you redo it?
No tub at all. We have two other bathrooms with tubs so it shouldn't hurt the resale value.
My current idea is to move the shower where the tub is and put another closet where the shower is. I haven't started playing with my graph paper yet though
If you have dimensions for rooms, I would totally help. My coworker is building a house and obsessing over the layout and I've been geeking out helping her lol.
pooh8402 I can't for the life of me remember which math class this was for. I wanted to say maybe physics but I didn't take that until my junior year (I thought I wanted to be a pharmacist and physics was required- it ended up being a really hard useless elective).
I was canceled tonight so I had time to play. I've thought about making the shower go straight across like the tub but I tried a square and liked it. I love the Houzz inspiration pic. I could put drywall up, a clear door (solid black bar) facing out towards H's vanity, and a "window" facing my vanity like in the pic. Where the shower used to be would be a 4' long closet with double doors. That would become H's closet and I'd have the walk-in I was also thinking it might be possible to put a small linen closet on the side of the closet facing the entry doors and toilet entry. It wouldn't be deep but we have a big linen closet outside of our master. I just think it'd be nice to keep the towels available in the actual bathroom.
