OMG, DH sent me this text this morning:
"Your night couldn't have been worse than mine. Had a rat scurry under my bed at 3:30, couldn't find it. Couldn't go back to sleep, it sounded like a cat with its nails in the carpet.....And it squeaked too!"
He's staying at a hotel his company put him in for the night. WTF. I'm totally skeeved out and I'm hundrerds of miles away!
On the H&F front, I'm so excited I get to run a race on Thursday!

runblondie26 I'm skeeved as well reading that. I would've slept in the car or something.
I'm watching the forecast and it looks like Wednesday and Thursday's runs will be in snow/sleet/rain. Wednesday shouldn't be too bad, but Thursday I'm doing a trail turkey trot 5k. I really hope it changes it to snow so it's not a muddy mess.
I'm tired today but yay to not having any kids until Thursday! We should be able to sleep well!
I'm debating doing a Turkey Trot which is a little bit of a drive to get to or just run my own thing on Thursday. It would save me $35 and gas. I ran yesterday. I really slow easy run that felt great yet not quite enough. I wanted to go further but I had a sleeping toddler at home with a teenager watching her. I didn't want her to wake up before I got home.
I missed my first long run since starting my half training. I was traveling and forgot my darned sports bra, and then didn't get home and settled till late.
I have no idea whether to try to make it up today (my usual active rest day) or just skip it and move on to next week or what.
It's also freakishly warm out right now and it's kinda throwing me off.
Though due to the logistical issues I knew all along were going to be a problem, I'm not sure I can make Charleston happen anyway. I just can't burn the PTO to get down there on friday. Or the money to travel.

runblondie26 - that's so disturbing! There's no way I would have gotten any sleep after that at all.
I feel so far behind for the holidays. We don't even know yet if we are going out of town for Christmas yet or not to visit family. No idea what my step kids want for Christmas and it's only a month away!
I'm really trying to convince DH that we need to get a puppy for Christmas. I haven't had a dog in almost 3 years and I miss it. I miss having the cute wagging tail as I walk in the house, the good puppy/dog snuggles, and it would be nice to have a running and walking buddy.

I did not sleep well last night, I had the craziest most vivid dreams! I kept waking up and it would take a while to fall back asleep because I was thinking about the dreams. Upside is that I only work half a day today. So I plan to hit an early afternoon crossfit class.
I have a vacation today, and it is in the mid-60's and sunny. For Western NYS this is unreal. We are going to grill out tonight!
I'm celebrating by taking the dog on a nice long trail walk. If my ankle behaves, i will hopefully be able to go for a short run tomorrow or Wednesday.
Yesterday when I left solo with the kids to go to a friend's place (H was gone), I somehow managed to leave the door wide open to our house. Whoops. It was scary to come home 3 hours later and see it had just been left open. Thankfully everything was still there and an ax murderer did not kill us in our sleep.

We spent the entire weekend shopping like crazy people but we are DONE with Christmas shopping! Whoo!
I got on the scale yesterday and saw a number I haven't seen in *years*. It actually scared me a little - I'm still happy with my body and what it can do, but regardless of current health, that number isn't doing me any favors long term. I'm back on the wagon pretty hardcore right now.

I had this same thing happen this morning, post a really good workout. I was so proud I felt so strong. I think i would have preferred a crappy workout but a lower, more life affirming number. :/
AJ is at the babysitter's because I have a dentist appointment later. At 3pm. I dropped him off at 11:30. So I can "get stuff done". Which means I got food from Wendy's and am sitting on my ass until 12:30p, then I will go do shit around the house for a bit until I leave to run errands before my appt.
I am loving sitting on my ass in this quiet house. Love.
I have been running my long runs slow as heck. I can run fast at other times. I don't think I'm particularly out of shape. I think the long runs have just gotten in my head. I kind of want a training re-do because in January I predict that I will run my slowest marathon yet, probably by 20 minutes. ::bummed out face::
runblondie26 - Gah!! Your poor DH. In his line of work I'm guessing he didn't have a car available to sleep in. :\
On a side note, we totally had lots of mice in our first house, and even a few in our current place. Older houses and country living just aren't a good thing for rodent control.
brit - I hope you will surprise yourself. I'm guessing it's still quite warm there, and hopefully you'll get an awesome, cooler day in January for racing. You are balancing a lot, and I say finishing 26.2 is a victory! Still, a March full sounds great if you are up for it.
@mn06 - Boo. Sorry to hear this. I know certain animals really have a hard time reproducing and raising healthy young in captivity. Sad panda.
On a happy note, I saw on twitter this morning I won a prize from Oiselle in their rungiving giveaway. Sweetness! (If you like Oiselle stuff get on twitter and RT their daily giveaway tweet. I think it runs through Thanksgiving day.)
I believe I get a new style tank & arm warmers. I've always thought their arm warmers were gorgeous, but I couldn't stomach the $. Now it all worked out.
msniq & I finally got our bike trailer and did our first bike commute to daycare/work today! I was at my desk before 8am and I got a 20 minute cardio workout. I could get used to this!
This weekend's race was muddier than I expected. I'm not looking forward to cleaning my bike later in the week...and...I want to win photo contest. Please help!

Sweet! I've won 2 pairs of Procompression socks/sleeves this week from 2 different blogs. I'm totally doing this because I'm apparently on a roll. Gonna buy some lotto tickets too.
runblondie26 - my H travels for work too, and having young kids, I would usually kill him if he said his night in a hotel room was for sure tougher than mine at home, but in this case, I think he is justified. Holy moly, so gross.
We are having our great room, stairs, and hallways painted this week, so it is an interesting shuffle with a 4 year old and dogs to stay out of the way. But, after this week, we will finall be able to hang photos and decorate,. We only closed in August . Oh, and choosing a paint color for all of this space and all of this $ to hire it out was seriously one if the hardest decisions I've made lately! Yikes!
I had good long rung 21ish this past weekend! Getting pumped for Kiawah! However, I spent most of last night getting stitches and still praying that I had an index finger after a rather bloody encounter with an immersion blender.

Uh oh! I hope you are ok!!! How many stitches did you have to get?

I was hoping to have a quiet week and spend Wednesday prepping for Thanksgiving, but nope, I will be working all day instead. I'm having one of those weeks where I'm annoyed with my job.
