In a neighborhood of similar looking homes I probably would. My next door (attached) neighbor's house is nearly identical to mine but it is consistent with the neighborhood so it doesn't stand out.
Your historic & urban rowhome/townhouse isn't really a fair comparison to new construction build in suburbia, IMO.

Every house in my neighborhood is exactly the same, for at least a square block. :-) They were all built in the 1950's. People have added on over the years, but overall I don't really care. It's kind of fun because if I'm considering a reno I can usually look on zillow for people who have done the same thing. :-)

At this point in my life it's not something I would do or buy, but that's because I prefer custom homes in non-tract neighborhoods and can afford that preference. Our first house was one of about five models in our 1940s neighborhood and the uniformity wasn't a big deal because that's what we could afford. I'd say it's not a big deal in your situation. Someone buying in your neighborhood is going to expect similar homes, so get what you like.
We live in a new construction cookie cutter neighborhood. I don't necessarily love the way the outside of the houses look, but I LOVE the inside of my house and the overall feel of the neighborhood. There are about 20 floor plans. Ours is the 5th largest and so far the most popular in the development, they are popping up everywhere! On our street there is only one other of our floor plan. But they just started developing the other side of our street and I think the one directly across from us will be the same as ours. Doesn't bother me at all.
Plus our same floor plan is selling for $30-40k more than what we paid in March. So we are very happy with that
