Saturday I ran 6 miles outside, and both during and after I had that creaking feeling: my shoes were dead. I checked Training Peaks, where I track miles on each pair of shoes, and lol - my shoes were at 288. I retired my last pair of the same model at 287. I guess I am consistent! Consistent, but annoyed to reliably not make it to 300.
I apparently have another 60 miles to go on my other in-progress pair (I usually have one with tri laces and one with regular ties at any given time), and then I'll be on my last *sniff* hoarded NIB pair. Farewell, Nimbus 14s. I have run every single half marathon and half ironman I've ever done in Nimbus 14s! I think I had every color they made, except the black which I thought were fug.
But bright side, maybe in 340 miles I'll find something new that I will like and will last longer!
I too am hard on my shoes. I am amazed that I squeezed out just over 300 miles on my last two pairs of shoes. Normally it's between 250-275 when they're toast.
Do you have any idea what you'll switch to next? Or is it going to be a fun day at the LRS for you?
I think it'll be a "do your whole running workout by testing every pair the LRS has" kind of day.
I tried the Nimbus 15s last year to bad results, so I retired them early for the sake of my achilles. The Nimbus 16s are out now, but based on the 15s, they're on the bottom of my "want to try" list.

I have this issue too.
I talked to the guy at one of my LRS's and he said that unfortunately the styles I buy usually only last about 250-300 miles. He was shocked actually that I was just having issues, I was closing in on 300 miles. I wear Asics GT 2000-2's and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14's. He said because I don't have super cushioned shoes they will always wear out faster because there is less cushion to compress or something.

I wear adrenalines too and to me when the shoes are "done", it feels like a tire is blowing out and not slowly letting out air. Do you get that too? It's like the cushion threshold is crossed and Blamo, they are done.
Well I have yet to finish off a pair of Adrenaline's but that's how my Asics were. Just one day out running and I was like yep those are done. It happened with my last pair too, New Balances.

See, that's why I expected my Nimbuses to last longer - I think they are pretty plush in the grand scheme of running shoes. Oh well. Running is supposed to be enjoyable, so if buying shoes every 280 miles is necessary for my enjoyment I will do it! I just might complain every now and then that a shoe that retails for $145 or so should last a little longer!!
Another hard on running shoes person signing in. I wear Nike Structure Triax and am lucky to get 275-300 out of them. My hips tell me when I get to 225ish and I can usually squeeze another couple weeks out of them but then they're goners.

another adrenaline wearer and my shoes hardly ever make it to 300 miles - usually 250-275. i used to wear asics and they were slightly better but i think i'm just tough on my shoes.
