quesyrah - you say the peaceful protests didn't get them anywhere, but neither have the riots, right?
I think it's sickening, this entire situation, and the constant occurrences of this exact situation are ridiculous, and I wish I knew the answer.
LEgally, if the evidence really was so sporadically provable, and what not, I'm glad they didn't indict. The case can continue to be examined, and perhaps looked at again.
I do think the media played a big part in fucking this up.
No they haven't, and I'm not pretending to know the answer here. I just feel outrage.
I don't think anyone is arguing only black people riot- at least I hope not because that's beyond stupid and ignorant. I will admit though it's hard to be objective and separate the "why" for people who live in Missouri right now. I am not excusing it, but I'm being honest here. It's hard to think it's justifiable to burn down a business. That doesn't make Michael Brown's death any less tragic, or racism in MO any less real. It's just hard to see the forest for the trees sometimes.
I know my opinions on rioting have nothing to do with race. Also, I have been looking for a word but couldn't quite spit it out. Scattered just reminded me the word I was looking for is justified. Thanks scattered.

There was a popular quote after the TM case. It said something like, " Tonight, white privilege means I'm scrolling the internet while trying not to throw up rather than standing in the doorway of my child's bedroom trying not to cry."
Yeah, they could have tried slower, more peaceful routes. But you dont have to worry about someone shooting your unarmed kid and getting away with it so it is easier for you (general you) to say.
Burning businesses down is wrong. So are 1000 of the things that PD did. Why are people more upset about the rioting? MB case aside, that PD has done some fucked up stuff. They should be dissolved.
I am shocked and outraged that anyone believes Wilson. Seriously bean you are basing your opinions in Wilsons lies and cover ups? That is asinine!
No, I said the evidence backs up his story. Seriously, I said if I am being dense then please, point me in the direction of where I need to look. Tell me, what am I supposed to believe? I am literally not being snarky at all.
So I read that. And I understand why she is so upset. Especially the part where she said, this is not just about Mike Brown. But so what's the solution? Send DW to trial/jail to prove a point? Have him pay for other sucky, douchebag cops? Inequities towards black people (especially black men) exist, but in this situation DW didn't deserve to be indicted.

I'll be honest -- I used to think he was just a idiot who was bad at his job. But this interview kind of made him appear to be somewhat of the sociopath people made him out to be.
Dude, you fucking killed an unarmed person. Yeah, you should feel some sort of remorse, cop it not.

How do we know that he doesn't feel any remorse? Serious question. Is there a good link?

ABC news interview, he said that, that he knows he did his job right. Im Mobile , but cnn also reporting it.

I think it's the FACT that he has yet to apologize, and has in FACT sold his story for money.
The cop in me said he was doing what he was trained to do. If anyone had ever touched/reached for my gun & was fighting to put their finger in my trigger guard- that is intent. Intent to cause you some harm or take your life. I would have been scared for my fucking life.
The mother in me- her son was killed. It's gut wrenching. All I could think of what who was comforting her when the verdict was released. I didn't give a flying fuck about the outcome.
As for the riots. Horrible. Can you magine watching your place of business burn to the ground on tv? The place that pays the bills. Burning American flags. It's riduiculous! & shouldn't be happening. They don't need to loot & riot. There is plenty they can do without damaging property & hurting innocent people.
I've unfriended many on social media for their dumb word vomit. & they are on either side.
beantrees, I know you're of the opinion that since the GJ decided there wasn't cause to indict DW, that makes it true. The problem is that the case presented to them had anomalies and unusual circumstances, it didn't follow the normal ways a case is presented to a GJ.

No, I'm not saying that at all. The justice system is not always correct. Based on my limited knowledge (obviously, I have not seen all the evidence) of the autopsy report, and by reading DW's testimony, following the initial news reports, etc. etc. is how I founded my opinion. I didn't just accept it like "oh, hey! the law is always right." No.
Also I read the link. And meh. I think it goes both ways. That article was reaching too. An example of saying that he "ridiculed" the eye witness accounts. I watched the press conference. He didn't ridicule them, he pointed out that they lied, which they did. So yea, it probably could have been done a different way. But honestly, I think a different prosecution would have ended with the same result.

No you say he isn't guilty because you are believing his word. He has already changed his story he is lying for his life. The GJ is as crooked as the police department there.

I am believing his version of the truth because it is consistent with the physical evidence that I have read about. Who are you believing? There is no one 100% reliable in this situation.
It's hard for me to take anything coming out of ferguson as legit because it all seems crooked. And I understand others will come to a different conclusion. Nothing about this process seems like due process was served.
MB may have reached for his gun. DW may be telling the truth BUT it's hard for me to take his word when everything happening there reeks to the high heavens.
I'm all for being corrected if I have any details wrong. Does any other force not wear name tags, not have to ID themselves? This may seem trivial but it speaks to the idea that the cops can go in and do what they want without and how are you going to report it?
I read a story back in August or September about a man that was traveling through F and had a run in with the cops. The cops basically booked him for destruction of cop propert (his uniform) or something crazy. The best part, the man bleed on his uniform after the cop beat him.
I have read nothing good about the relations between the force and the community they serve. I'm biased and completely willing to admit it.
I believe, and I am fact checking with a retired cop friend, that some counties in MO don't do this.

There are two people who know the truth and one is dead. I choose not to believe the white cop who shot and killed an unarmed black kid. A cop that comes from a known rage filled dirty police force and has changed his story already. A cop who has been coached for weeks so his story matched the evidence.

I've gotten most of my info from NPR, and for weeks they've run different stories about how corrupt the PD at least seems, and its terrible relations with teh community at large.

There has been misconduct at every level of this case and investigation from the get go but it appears you seem to take little issue with that. I find it interesting that the prosecutor didn't point out any inconsistencies between initial statements and DW's (four hour) testimony. So he apparently is allowed to change, or clarify his statement but when witnesses do similar, they are liars. Gotcha.
Look, I actually think avoiding trial hurts DW in the end. It's likely he would have never been convicted but now this is going to follow him around forever. Police shootings are always murky, so much depends on split second decision making and even if it was the wrong decision, it may be an understandable one thus making it difficult to convict beyond a reasonable doubt.
