Omg that's horrible! I'm sorry you have this all brought back up. Have you spoken to anyone about it? Since childhood, I mean. That is a lot for a child to process. How awful.

Holy shit! as an adult i would piss my pants if that happened in our yard I can not imagine how a child would process that. And as a mom I would freak the fuck out and probably sleep in my kids room forever.
That's awful. Our home (and our schools) are supposed to be safe places. When horrible things happen so close to them, our world is rocked forever. I get it. ((((big hug)))
You have PTSD. This is not a diagnosis, but a solid observation.
Were you, as a child, just asked to sweep your feelings away? Because you seem very clear on your memories and feelings - but not any support.
Now, as an adult, you are allowed to seek and get emotional support for your memories and feelings. Please do so. Please get into a group or individual work.

Holy shit - I feel traumatized just hearing about it. I cannot imagine what it must have done to you. It sounds like you suppressed it but maybe there's the underlying cause of some of your anxiety even now? Talk to your therapist about it for sure. It sounds like it was a life altering event for you.

This sounds like it's a good time to approach it in therapy. The news story has it all coming back fresh in your mind. It is a terrible terrible thing for anyone's life to have been touched by, let alone a child. Take care, that's so scary, again, I'm sorry you went through that.
