IIRC, anything under $1/piece is usually considered a good price.
Edited to add: camelcamelcamel.com has the lowest price on Amazon as $94.95 in July 2013. If we didn't already have a 100-piece set and a 75-piece set for DD for Christmas, I'd be jumping on this one, but I really can't justify a third set of them.

Ooh, thanks. I got the Picasso Tiles, and my kid gets really frustrated because his creations break apart so easily. I'm hoping the real Magna-Tiles are stronger.

I think the real ones are pretty strong. They have them in M's class, I've seen him build towers that are 2-3 ft tall without issue.
I am irrationally mad that I paid for shipping yesterday. Gah.
I would be too. Can you order again and then cancel yesterday's order?
I actually emailed them to see if they could do anything and she said they could "extend the free shipping offer to my order". Which I think means they will refund me the shipping charges? Awesome CS!
Ashley&Scott, we are not, but thank you for thinking of me! Our big gift this year is a train set. He doesn't seem to like to build things yet. He hasn't really touched the blocks, so I am reluctant to spend almost $100 on Magnatiles.

Understandable. Did you find a train set you liked? That site had some Brio stuff too, I know you were looking at that brand at one time.
Does the magnet last on these? I want I he hem for my 5 year old but can only justify the purchase in my mind if my infant can also play with them in future.
I bought these for ds1 when he turned 2 . they get banged around a lot and still are intact. They're quite well made. The only damage done is some scratches on the plastic.

I have several picked out on Amazon. I'll send you the links to see which you think I should get
Are these good for a 2YO, or am I better waiting a year?
DS is 29 months and these are his favorite toy at daycare, and have been for several months. They are nearly always the first thing he heads toward when we drop him off, so we're getting him a set for Christmas.
It pains me but I have to pass on these this year. DD is already getting enough stuff, some that were pretty expensive (a 'lil quad, plasma car, hape kitchen, etc) and I just can't spend another $100 on something for her. Next year though you better all be wanting more and post deals again when you see them!
