Thanks for asking! We ended up not going in last night because his fever broke and he stopped puking. He is in good spirits, but his fever spiked up to 103 this morning and his rash still looks pretty bad, which is what the doctor predicted. He's had Motrin and benadryl already, and his fever is back down. But the hives are everywhere, even on the bottoms of his feet. The pedi opens in an hour, and we will be going in then. As I am typing this, he just fell asleep on MH's lap. This is him right now, sorry if the pictures gross anyone out:
Wow. Poor Andrew! This is an allergic reaction to antibiotics? Scary stuff.
That's the thing, he may not be allergic to penicillin! This could be something to do with mono, and it's exacerbated by the amoxicillin. They just don't know for sure. They said the hives will take a day or two to decrease, but might come back before it's completely gone. The fever and vomiting is what we were really concerned about.
Nope, it doesn't seem to bother him in the least. He calls them "pricklies" but he says they don't hurt or itch.
Thank goodness, it looks so itchy, I am glad to hear that.
Twice when I was young I got a crazy rash, it was upraised welts, and all over me. At the pedi the nurses kept coming in the room to see me, I was a spectacle! Turned out it was from strep.

I had stuff similar when I was little. It was a weird rash that started in my armpits and then spread across my chest. It was also due to strep.
I was also going to say that Ethan had a very similar rash and symptoms when he had strep. Called Scarlett Fever. Did they test for that? Poor thing! I hope he feels better!

I had that as a kid too.
i think they are holding off on tests to see if being off the amoxicillin clears up the hives. I'm going to ask about tests if we have to go back on Friday.
