Yep. When I looked at other citizenship questions about current government, geography, the Charter, etc I did better. Some of the really old, settlement level stuff I completely blanked on because that's Grade 7 & 8 stuff.
If it makes you feel better I'm supposedly qualified to teach history. Or maybe that will make things worse haha. I did have to review a lot of the stuff I taught in Grade 8 history while I was student teaching it, but a lot of that stuff is Grade 7 level and not touched on afterwards so it's been a while.
I was in french immersion for grade 7 and 8 (only) and I can't recall what was taught those years. Seems doing social studies in french was a poor idea in terms of long term retention.
My defense is that I've blocked out Grade 7 almost entirely, so I suppose it isn't surprising that I didn't remember this.
Despite the benefits of FI, I definitely see what you mean for people who only do immersion for part of the time. I know multiple people who have/had issues with subjects after going to an all-English program.
48 out of 50. damn federalist papers. Oh...and apparently I don't know when people were president. Or misunderstood the question or something. the great depression plus WWII president. I have no idea why I thought that was hoover. I mean...in retrospect, I knew perfectly well he wasn't in power when the war started, but I clicked him anyway.
See, Gretzky is "the Great One", but Gordie Howe is "Mr. Hockey". I'd only get it if only one hockey player was listed.
That's how I knew that couldn't be the answer. Because the people writing the test would have totally digressed into a long discussion of whether that dude was in fact THE greatest player of all time and the test would never had been finished.
I got 50/50, but I'm actually looking at the test now (we have a copy in the office), there are 100 questions. You can be asked any of them. One is "Name your Representative" "Why did the colonists fight the British?" "What territory did the U.S. buy from France in 1803?" "Before he was President, Eisenhower was a general. In what war?" Some of those.....wow. Plus, they have to read and write in English.

Only 1 legitimately wrong, 2 more because I don't read good.
I had no idea who wrote the Federalist Papers. Where do I hand in my passport?
I think that may be the most missed question on this board. Honestly I looked at that list and thought, "uhhh, could be any of those dudes." If there had been an "all of the above" choice I'd have gone with that.

It has been ingrained in me that James Madison = The Federalist Papers. That's the only reason I knew; I don't know why I retained that nugget of information from high school, I just did.

I'm sad I didn't get that hockey question! LAME.
Ditto about the Federalist Papers. It's just one of those random things I just know. It's weird that it's on a citizenship test.

44/50 (well 43/50 but I do know Joe Biden is vice president, I just skimmed the question and totally didn't see the vice part)
More embarrassing though I only got 13/20 on the Canadian test. And I'm married to a Canadian. Guess it's time I read through my copy of Canadian history for dummies again
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
49/50 but one of the questions was in oddly large print and got cut off on my kindle. So I wasn't exactly sure what it was asking since I could only read the first few words. I took a chance and guessed wrong. I call shenanigans! lol

49 but its because I picked an answer before I saw that all of the above was a possibility. I broke the number one rule I teach kids about mc lol. Oops.
