Maybe only one or two times per year, unless I'm shopping for a particular event to to replace a piece (weight loss/gain, wear and tear, etc). I'm not a huge shopper, mostly because I only have DH to go with, and he's not a fun shopping partner.
Rarely. Maybe every 6 months or so. I toss things when I realize I haven't worn them in forever. I think I wear a lot of the same stuff over and over, but *shrug*.

I've never even thought about what was said in the other thread. I go several months between buying clothes, but then I tend to get at least 6 or 7 things over a couple weeks. It's usually with a new season and getting some things to update my wardrobe. I got rid of over 100 items a few months ago so I have some room now to gradually replace. Some years, I might only get a few things

I buy clothes pretty frequently. Like others have said, I'll sometimes go through phases where I refrain from buying anything for awhile, and where I'll be shopping every week. I love buying clothes.
I always have a growing pile of clothes to toss that I am constantly adding to. But I only get around to actually removing it from my home a few times a year.
Since I pretty much started from scratch, I spread out my purchases over the year, a few every month. Now that I have enough stuff to rotate through, I buy what I need or to replace.
are you one of those people that wears the same pair of faded black pants every day with a pair of flats you bought at the chinese market and some sort of pity-ill-fitting-merona top you scored at target for $4?
It's a Bobeau cardigan, Old Navy black jeggings (non-faded), and Payless flats, TYVM.
i go through periods where i am not choosey enough with my purchases, and it leads to me hating the garment after 1-2 wears, then i donate and then i buy again.
on the flipside - i am always amazed at how some people never buy clothes. what are you (not you miso, i'm talkiong about in general) wearing??? like, do you just walk around on the weekends in the same pilled yoga pants and your H's hoodie and a pair od sketchers from 1998? what about work? are you one of those people that wears the same pair of faded black pants every day with a pair of flats you bought at the chinese market and some sort of pity-ill-fitting-merona top you scored at target for $4?
i just don't get it!
I know you're not just talking to me, but I'll answer.
My clothes don't really get worn out. I do experience that odd phenomenon of little holes in my t-shirt around the waist area, but, other than that, I have 10-year-old clothing that looks just fine. My weekend wear is mostly t-shirts, hoodies, and a stretchy jersey skirt.
For work, I mostly wear dresses. I don't have a million dresses like pagas does, but I have enough not to have repeats for a month. Nothing is pilly!
My sort of gross tidbit is that I don't wash things all that often. I will probably wash a machine-washable item on the fourth or fifth wear, provided it has no stains or odor. Maybe this is why my clothes are in good condition for a longer time.
And shoes last forever! That's mainly because I don't walk very much. LOL.

I buy clothes all the time. Like, there have been months where I bought new clothes every weekend. I LOVE shopping and I love clothes!
I usually purge my closet once a year or so and donate anything I don't like anymore. I did a huge purge twice in the past 18 months because I lost a ton of weight and several clothing sizes, so I needed an entirely new wardrobe.
Right now my closet is overflowing and I have a lot of items that have only been worn once or twice since buying them in August/September. I'm holding back from shopping for the next few months and wearing what I already have.

My FIL regularly wears sweaters that used to be his dads. Who died before DH was born. DH is 38! He also wears shoes my H owned in high school (those are his size). His clothes budget is $100/year (really, he gave us his budget to use as an example, lollollol) and he wears suits to work.

Just had a kid, bought some new sweaters (cardigans so I can nurse and not freeze) nothing too fancy, but nice (merino wool). Dh washed AND DRIED my favorite one because he didn't know there were 2 in the wash... :*(
I don't shop much at all. If I see something I love, I buy it, but my wardrobe stays at about 50 pieces. If it gets much bigger than that, I'm looking at what's getting old and donating that. The only things I regularly replace are jeans and shoes, because I'm hard on those.

I need to know what brand/type of fabric your clothing is because I'm desperately looking for clothes that holds up over time! I guess the biggest issue I have is colors fading and things just look 'grubby' after a season or two. Anything made out of cotton generally falls into this category. I've also switched to Woolite laundry detergent in hopes that will help (versus more harsh detergents).

Eh, I work at a clothing store for my second job so I grab stuff once every month or two. Sometimes it's just a few basics (recently it was thermals) to replace older stuff or whatever and sometimes it's fun items.
We mostly buy our clothes for the year. on Black Friday :/
We hadn't done it for a couple of years but we're going back this year. However, I bought a decent amount when I reached my weight goal about 6 months ago.
