I have a hair appointment tomorrow and am looking for some advice. I have very long hair with side swept bangs that have grown out. I am going to have the back and layers trimmed but am torn between getting real bangs or just continuing to let what I have grow out or trimming back to side swiped bangs.
I am an indecisive waffler when it comes to my hair.
I am worried that bangs may make my face looker a lot fuller than it already is.
I do wear my hair in a bun about 95% of the time as my ds like to tangle his hands in it.
Wow, that hair is long. I think it would look great shortened way up, and long side-swept bangs would be flattering around your face. I'm not a big fan of BANG bangs anymore, but if you love them then go for it! If you're on the fence, then I'd say don't.
Don't all chubby redheads look the same?
I think I am just looking for a change so I thought bangs would be something different. Maybe I shouldn't do anything too drastic and just get rid of some of the length.
Your hair is gorgeous! I love the length of the inspiration pic. As for bangs, I think they would look nice on you but I would do the side swept first. Go for the gusto if you still want more of a change afterwards.
I'd take a few inches of length off, and think about some long layers. Maybe also thin it a little? My hair is similar to yours and I have them thin a little of it because otherwise it's totally unmanageable.
If you want bangs, try sideswept first. It's a smaller commitment and you can easily grow them out if you don't like it.
This is exactly what I was thinking, and especially the thinning shears.

This seems like a great idea and I would probably be happier with this than bangs. Thanks.
I'd basically cut until you feel compelled to wear it down a lot more often because it's PRETTY.
I am afraid that it would have to be pretty short. If it is long enough to go in a ponytail then it goes in a ponytail. You are right though, I should make more of an effort to wear it down.
you need at least 8-10 inches off. for real. your hair has the potential to be amazing. bangs, no bangs, doesn't matter. once you lighten up that hair, you could really do what you want with it.
If you're going to shorten it quite a bit (while still keeping it LONG), talk to your stylist about the Pantene hair donation program. Then if you end up regretting getting it cut that much shorter, at least you know that your gorgeous hair went towards making someone else VERY happy. I think you could cut enough to donate and still be considered as having REALLY long hair.
