When did you start inviting school/activity friends to birthday parties?
Im trying to plan for dd's party. Should I invite the kids in her class or is she too young for that (for those mobile, she will be 2)? I never see them outside of school so I would have to invite everyone (12 kids including her). We were invited to a birthday party for a classmate but couldnt make it so i have no idea what is "normal".

At around 2.5, she started to have friends she talked about and saw regularly. By 3, she was always asking to play with them--and actually skyped with some while in the hospital.

2 seems young to me. DS2's preschool class is all turning 3, and only one kid had a party. And that was really more of a beginning of the year, let's all get together, kind of party. No parties since then.
I invited the whole class when each of my kids turned 2. But the parties were at the park with cake and hot dogs and just the playground for entertainment. Dd2 just had hers earlier this month and 2 daycare kids came, and that's how many came to dd1's party as well, but I don't think any came for ds's party. We have never socialized with any of the other parents outside of birthday parties and school events, but after 4 years of parties you start looking forward to chatting with some of them.
So I definitely don't think it's crazy, but I wouldn't expect many to rsvp yes.

I guess I should say, we've only been invited to one party at this age. Maybe there are parties and the whole class isn't invited. I don't know. But around here it is very common to invite the whole class, or just the boys/girls.
We will for the first time DS's next birthday when he turns 4. His preschool is a coop though so I know the kids well and are friendly/friends with at least one parent of each child.
