I'm just getting into knitting and I thought I'd try my hand at one of the billion arm-knitting projects I see on pinterest. They all look relatively uncomplicated/easy/beginner level, which is great, because my crafty-ness is approximately nil. (See: 1st post on the crafts board)
Here's the stupid question: every person I see demonstrating talks about how important it is to get the stitches as small as possible and pulling them super tight, etc etc, but they are all smallish-size people. How does this translate for non-smallish folks like me, with relatively fat arms? Am I going to wind up with ginormous, stupid looking stitches? Should I just buy a set of skinny-person-arm-size needles? Halp.
Welcome! What you should do is find a small child- they will be running around all over the place this week, if you're in the states, thanks to Thanksgiving break and all!
No, assuming the look you're going for is a typical super chunky arm knit stitch, your arm circumference doesn't matter, those uber thick yarns fluff up to help tighten up the look of the stitch. And if you DO hate it, you can just frog it (RIP-it RIP-it back, if you aren't familiar with knitting terminology- ha) and start over with some gigantic knitting needles, dowels, whatever you can find that makes the stitch you like. Have fun with it!

Thanks, that's excellent to know. When I was renting about this to R, he said he could cut me a couple pieces of pvc to use instead, so if the arms don't work out, I can do that instead.
