I never thought I would do one of these…but I want some feedback on a name because right now it sounds great in my head but…well, you all know about name indecision, lol.
I like it with an "e" on the end. GN names are not usually my style, but I have a female friend named Marlowe, so I associate this with her. She is awesome.
I really like Edith- classic and classy.makes me think of Edith Piaf. Would you ever consider that as a first name? Edie would be a cute nickname.
I am typically NOT a GN neutral name person - like at all, and I do typically like feminine and somewhat classical (but not popular) names…this is why I am totally surprised by wanting to use Marlowe…the spelling thing was more because DH likes no E, I like it with.
I am STUNNED that DH didn't throw it out right away and actually likes it.
It isn't a done deal by any means, but it is on the list. I have no idea why I am so drawn to it.
I knew a Marlo growing up. Marlowe would just remind me of the 16th c playwright, but maybe that's just me!
I think it's cool that it references the playwright There's plenty of dogs named Maggie and Molly and Sam and Max so I wouldn't let a "dog" nickname bother me. That book/ movie won't be popular forever.
It is not my style in general, but I have a big soft spot for Marlo Thomas thanks to my love of Free to Be You and Me, so I have trouble hating on it. If I were going to use it, I would go with Marlo.
