Did my 5k in 31 min this morning. Not a PR, but good negative splits and my last mile was 9:26 which is speedy for me, so I was excited. Then I got my mug, waited in the water line, and walked back about a mile and found my h and parents, and walked back to the finish with them. It was a nice way to start the day!
OK, I don't normally post here, but I ran a 5K this morning. We also had several inches of snow on the ground, and the course was all hills. I was a little over 40 minutes. Not anywhere close to where most of you are, but only my 4th race ever, so I'll take it!

This was almost exactly my day. Except 31something is a PR for me. and I was walking back to find the friend pushing my Dd in the stroller instead of my h.
I was really excited to see three consistent sub 10 splits...but my official time is slower. It was a gun start with no chips and I was kinda far back. Oh well. Id not care except i paid extra for a "timed entry" so I assumed it'd be chipped.
Can I join? I did my own Turkey Trot . I didn't do the official one in my town because it started at 9 and I worked all night and wanted to run right after work (8am). It was so warm out (almost 50) and kind of windy, but a beautiful day. I made myself fight through 6.2 miles to make it an even 10k. After a brutal CrossFit workout when I woke up yesterday, working all night, and then running, my legs were angry with me and didn't wanna run LOL. But my heart forced them to move. Despite the hills, wind, and very tired legs, I managed to average an 8:59 pace (55:44), right on par with my fastest mid-length runs from the end of my marathon training this spring, so I'm pretty happy with that.
Technically it's a 19min PR from my only 10k three years ago. I was so proud of that 10k and never dreamed three years later I would have fallen head over heals for distance running, run three 13.1s, one 26.2 (and not my last!), see paces in the 8min/mile range, and knock 19min off my 10k time from that day. I would have thought you'd gone bananas if you told me I'd accomplish that!
runblondie26, I'm sorry for the disappointment & the 6 seconds. That stings. I know you are so speedy & want to get back to where you were, but do to be too tough on yourself. I think you are kicking butt, not even considering you have 2 little kiddos.
jamalynn -- HM on Thanksgiving is just crazy awesome. Congrats on a very strong race!!
Wines Not Whines, I have problems with really poorly paced 10K sometimes too. Maybe. I just find it hard to gauge, but you should still feel great doing that on tired double post-marathon legs.
@taratu - Eekk!! 5K PR on some tired legs! That should be a really good sign...
I'm so happy/proud for you all, but I should probably try to go back to bed now. My dog, the white bulldoggy one, woke me up at 2:30 so I could let her out to pee. Now I'm up...

I have been having knee issues on and off so I was hoping to run a sub 30, but my knees were really bothering me so I brought the dog and my seven year old who has never done a 5K. Well, you know where this is going--instead of walking we jogged the whole thing and finished in 35 minutes. I am sure without the dog--we could have been sub 30. She loved it and I anticipate many more mother/daughter races in our future. My knees are still a but sore today but I am going to take a week off and then try to run three days a week instead of four like I tried last week.
My turkey trot was last weekend, but I did PR. I'm consistently very slow...but picked up the pace on this race and finished the 10k in 57:59 (ha - I'm still calling that 57 minutes). Last year my time was 1:07:12. So knocked about 10 minutes off my time. I've never run that fast in a race before.
My husband and I did a 10k, and both PR'd (only our second 10k)! I came in at 55:33, with 5k splits of 28:29 and 27:05. I felt really good at the end, like I could have kept running, which is promising because 10k is my longest distance and I'm hoping to increase it this winter. Too bad my tummy was very unhappy afterwards, and stayed crampy for a few hours. Good job everyone who got up and ran!

Sub30 suddenly feels much more attainable though.
That is so annoying! Our gun time was 5 minutes off from our chip time, I'd be pretty mad about that.
A couple days late for a turkey trot, but I ran the first leg of the NCR marathon relay today. I was on set for a half PR, but MILE 12 measured about .1 too long. I hit the 12 mile mark at 12.09, but hit the 13.1 timing mat at 13.31. I don't have official results but I think a 1:34:50, only 10 seconds off a PR. Next time.
And b/c I can't run a half with out something going wrong, I lost a shoe at the start! Someone stepped on my heel and it came completely off. I had to hobble and chase it down with a couple hundred people coming up behind me. LOL. I might have to tie my shoes tighter next time.

My brother, N and I ran a 4k (2.5 mile) "Run your turkey off" race Friday at a high school that was a big rival of my high school. My brother is not a runner but is a division 1 wrestler so is in great shape. After making sure I didn't think that there would be any Ethiopians or Kenyans running he decided he was going to win. We show up and half the runners are wearing track or cross country jackets so my brother started to dial it back. My brother started toeing the line and N and I started way back so we didn't race together. He ended up finishing in 14:26, ninth overall and first in his age group since the top 3 finishers were all in the 20-25 age group as well. This is my first experience waiting around for the awards since I never come close to winning. Turns out N with a time of 26:50 wins third in his age group as well so it's a good thing we waited! We figured the target population has to be current students, young alumni and parents as there were only 5 males in the 35-39 group. Overall a fun morning! They announced your name as you finished which was pretty cool.

PS - after we finish my brother complains about his toes being cold. I look down and he's got massive holes in his shoes. I guess they were really old shoes - not sure why he didn't wear a decent shoe. But anyway he managed to place top ten running in holey shoes!
I didn't do a race, but an 8-miler instead. There was a local 5k but we had non-active people staying at our house and I needed more miles anyway. Oh well. It was pretty nice to see so many people around my neighborhood also working out or walking with their families!
libbygrl109 those trees behind you look incredible!

LOL. Thanks! Mother Nature did provide us with a pretty backdrop, even if getting around the day before was a little messy. The city did an awesome job making sure the course was spotless. They take their TT very seriously
ETA: GAH! Just saw this on my computer for the first time and realized how huge my pic was from Tapatalk. How do I get it smaller? It's the first I've used the app.

I just finished my second turkey trot with scm1011. It is definitely called tough ten miler for a reason. It has rolling hills the whole way until 7.75 mile ish or so then it's straight uphill past the 8.5 mile marker. I got a PR and scm1011 did amazing and I lost her on the uphill.
Yay to the sub-30, boo to the burning extremities. Hope you feel better @vtcupcake
ETA: Also, great job Mr. Cupcake!
Thank you dear! DH is DDing tonight, so there's that to look forward to
This race is FILLED with speedy people. Holy crap. Overall winner came in at 14:xx, BIL wasn't even close to placing in AG (low 40s) with his time, which was crazy. I've run with the core group of runners here before and they are just all amazing adonises and fast as hell. There's something in the water down here!
FL has some seriously fast runners. N FL is just as crazy. A guy from our main running group in Jax, just won Space Coast (2nd year in a row), in 2:35. They have the 5k championships in town, and it's so awesome to see the times that both the men & women throw down.
Not a turkey trot BUT we do grace (30 power clean and jerks) on thanksgiving every year. And this year I did it Rx at 95# in 6:38 vs last year at 75# and 5:43. Boom!! Now it's time for some ice on my shoulder and food.
OMG, we did Grace a month or two ago. I RX'd it but OUCH!!!
I'm so so late but I didn't log in until today. I ran my Turkey Trot 5k in about 33 mins. I am going to count that as my PR since I haven't run a 5k that didn't have obstacles of some sort ever. I averaged 10 mins per mile with my first mile being the fastest and my third being a minute slower than the first. It was a great day. I ran it with my SIL, her friend, and another of our friends. Well, they all passed me so we didn't technically run it together. One of the ladies we were there with is in her late 40s and her and her husband (late 50s?) do Ironman races. OMG. I was in awe.
