Big hugs to you guys, pixy and mockingbird.
I'm making more mashed potatoes. I haven't had actual mashed potatoes in two+ years because of my lactose intolerance -- but DH made them yesterday with chicken broth and a bit of butter (which, oddly, I don't seem to have a problem with). It was glorious. Mashed potatoes are one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving and it was so good to have them that I'm making more.
I am going to try and get the tattoo that I want done this weekend, if the artist I want has time. She seemed to think it wouldn't take long and I could just drop in, but I'm going to call tomorrow and see if she's free.
I just downloaded Spotify and am listening to popular music for the first time in forever. I just listened to that "All About That Bass" song for the first time ever a few minutes ago. It's catchy. #i'moldasfuck #fortheearth
The Star Wars parody is better.
I feel that way about most popular songs these days.
I shared a story from Daily Kos on my FB page. I'm hoping it doesn't kill my mother. I think she secretly fears Independent me will turn in crazy liberal me. No, Mom, I just actually am able to see and understand lots of different perspectives.

My very Republican dad was convinced that moving to Washington state is what turned me into a librul (I used to be fairly Republican). Actually, what did it is thinking about the issues on my own instead of continuing to tow the party line. I grew up Christian, Republican, Military, and independent thinking isn't exactly encouraged in those sectors. Once I realized that all my political views were pretty much just parroted from those above me, I changed the way I thought about many issues (especially social ones). What's funny is that my dad changed from Republican to Independent a few years ago, but I'm sure he doesn't blame it on living in California for 50+ years.

I grew up the same way, but my parents have always encouraged me to think for myself. I still lean right. It's just been in the past year or so that my mom has become very black and white in her thinking, which I attribute to age, not POV.
