She already sent J's box of Christmas gifts. Her exact words were "I went to the Dollar Tree so I could buy him lots of things instead of one good gift." Exact words. I have zero issue with where she wants to spend her money. But, she didn't want to get a good gift. Ok.
In this box
-A bright pink glittery "3" candle. -A 400 piece Spongebob puzzle. (Two notes on this. She asked if Character gifts were ok like three weeks ago. I said anything EXCEPT Spongebob. I loathe that character and do not want J even knowing what it is. Its like nails on a chalkboard for me. And 400 pieces? lol. My H just laughed and threw it away. I was shocked.) -4 matchbox cars. This is awesome because he loves those -A book that is literally missing all but two of the pages. -A knitted scarf. This is actually really cute. -And a framed picture of J. She sent him a framed picture of himself for Christmas. And, it was the same picture that we sent her for HER house. The exact one, not one that she had copied. - And empty tin box. I mean, he will actually like this because he is obsessed with things that have lids, but I'm not sure what the intent was.
She can be really sweet. We have had our issues, and I know some of this is BEC territory for me, but it still makes me laugh. I asked DH what he wanted to do with it all, and he decided to put the cars in the tin box, wrap that, toss the book, puzzle, and the candle, and then just put the picture away. He actually called her and asked if she meant to send that, and she said she thought we wanted to put it in our house? He explained that picture was for her, and she said she needed one more thing to fill the box. LOL. My H is now a little worried that her mind is slipping, so I didn't really say much about this stuff.

That's kinda funny.
I have one from yesterday.
We are in the middle of bathroom renos. My MIL called yesterday to ask if she could come see the bathroom. DH said "Um ok but you know I'm no where close to being done, right?" She said "That's ok! I'll be there in a minute, I'm parked outside your house".

My MIL is great, but got a little side eye from me yesterday. She got all of her grandkids a "getting ready for Xmas" gift that they got to open after dinner. All the grandkids (ages 3, 2, 2, 5 months) got ornaments (cute!) and the three older kids got a stuffed Santa. She gave baby C an empty frame. ^o)

Oh my gosh, that's hilarious. It reminds me of my grandpa. He used to give us toys that he had gotten as "bonus" gifts for subscribing to Time magazine years before. He kept them in the attic and gave them out periodically. Once he also gave my grandma the Titanic necklace for Christmas - like, a kid's knockoff version of it. And he wrapped it like it was a fine piece of jewelry.
My MIL gave K an advent calendar where each panel has 2 or 3 words in it, and at the end of the month you have an entire poem. No candy or anything, just a few words per door. Guaranteed to keep a 2-year-old's interest, no??
