This is all Goddell's fault. If he hadn't fucked up in the first goddamned place, Ray Rice wouldn't have much to appeal. Everyone know how she got knocked out. Why were they even trying to play?
You know who's not above taking him? The Jets. They give no fucks about anything and they suck more than a Dyson.
My first thought was the Jets too. They love a good circus. I could also see them trading for Sanchez just to troll us all.
Me: Who the fuck would actually sign Ray Rice??? DH: The Jets.
So there you go.
Note that his reason for saying the Jets really has nothing to do with the fact that Vick "plays" for them and is really just another way he can make fun of that sorry team.
ANYWAY.
Frankly, I don't think any team (well, except the Ravens) is "above" signing Rice. Blame Goodell indeed.

"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley
So I guess you don't live around here because if you did you probably would have heard how happy people were to see Vick go and how furious they were when he signed. Reid didn't care. He's gone now and so is Vick and no one is losing sleep over it.
My point is that you can't call out one team and leave out several others. Off the top of my head I can name the Jets (where Vick currently plays) or the Steelers (Plaxico Burress) or the Rams (Leonard Little).
The entire league has a huge problem right now. The players are learning that there are no permanent repercussions for breaking the law and hurting others. The fact that Rice and Peterson will probably be signed within the year is disgusting and should be shut down at a higher level than the teams.
I do not live in PA. I was, probably unfairly, basing my observation off the number of Vick jerseys I saw when my team played them twice a year, and the defenses of him I saw in the press and on message boards (team boards, not here). I have no problem calling out any teams with criminals who hurt others. The Eagles were just the most high profile, certainly more high profile than employing Plaxico Burress (who only hurt his dumb self, though I'm glad he was let go by the Giants). And I'll call out the Jets any time. Truly, the only reason I brought up the Eagles was because they took him right away, and I recall them being kind of defiant about it. I can see that happening again with another team, and it'll only disappoint me more.
I completely and totally agree with your last paragraph.
As someone who stepped on this landline a month or so ago, stop. While I can understand the anger at this sport and the gross things coming out of it lately (so many, sadly), it is not the only sport, or even hobby, to have such poor examples as members of it. I don't get the passion, but I do get that we each make a decision on what we can and can not stomach in most aspects of our lives. Most fans are able to separate love of the game from the players that participate so it is not fair to see them as being "okay" with a particular player. And, as MMM said, Vick served his time. He needs to make a living in some way...we don't keep punishing people who have served their time if we really want them to change.

Because the NFL doesn't care too much if you break the law unless people get mad at you for doing so or you have a DUI/DWI. But children or spousal abuse or even attempted murder? Eh. (note I said NFL).
