Another tip- use a heating pad. It's a huge transition from your warm arms to a cold bed. I would put the heating pad on low in the bassinet when I started to nurse to sleep and then pull it out right before I laid them down.
It was the only good advice my MIL has ever given me.
Yes, we did this when we transitioned him to the crib at 3 months.

Yes! Make sure when you put her down that it's warm. My h used to put a blanket in his armpit to warm it up and then it would smell like him before putting either of my boys down when they were that little.
Remember that baby was used to being snuggled up in you. That is natural right now. I loved the RNP as well. It is such a comforting way for them to sleep at this age.
I work on mother/baby unit. Warm blankets and that bear that mimics the womb/heartbeat are the best. There is a youtube video of the sound that plays for over 13 hours of it. Good luck and congrats again
A nurse taught me to swaddle in with her arms up by her face but still in and she liked that. I can try to video it on a doll if you want me to.
Yes please! This is how the one nurse at the hospital did it too but I was never able to repeat it and we didn't see her after the one time she did it.

DD slept on us for 6 weeks until we discovered the Miracle blanket and it changed our lives...this was pre RnP. 8 days is early so don't stress but you will reach a point where you would like to try to get things done while they nap....but you are still super early.
Another poster here to reassure you that my kid slept on one of us for the first 3 months. We then were able to transition her to the swing (we got the swing you can put the carseat into). So she slept in her carseat, in the swing until about 9 months, then she finally started sleeping in her crib. Whatever works, man. Whatever works. All babies are different.

Yes, do try the swaddle that allows her to have her hands by her face. That was a great thing for my son. He liked to have his hands by his face. I even delivered him with his hands by his face. Sigh.
I didn't want my baby to sleep on me, but I didn't want to never sleep again even more. So he slept on me/with me till he was 6 months old and I told my doctor how often he was waking up still and she told me to start cio.
Ok, obviously I'm childless so I'm a bit clueless.. But if he isn't sleeping on you.. Then what happens? He cries, right? So he isn't crying because he needs something so can't you just let him cry? Or is that bad for him?
you shouldn't let a week old baby just cry. "cry it out" proponents (e.g., Ferber, etc.) don't say to start it until a few months in (around 6 months old). I have heard the first 3 months called the "fourth trimester" and it's a good way to think of it and to prepare. baby is going to want to sleep on you, nap on you, etc. also if you are breastfeeding it is infinitely more convenient to co-sleep or room share.
I looked at all her dolls, the orangutan had the longest arms so it was the easiest toy to swaddle. My husband filmed it but thinks I'm nuts lol. Bonita I hope it helps!
My son "slept" swaddled in a swing for 8 months. If they made bigger swings I would have upgraded. He still has a noise machine, night light and music with pictures that he can turn on in bed. Whatever it takes. WHATEVER IT TAKES. (I never let him sleep in the car seat outside of the car or in the bouncy seat because his head would fall forward and I wasn't comfortable with that)
