We're getting ready for our holiday trip this year (Thailand), which means I have to start thinking about next year, right?
My husband wants to do Paris. He's never been, and it's been several years since my visit. We usually take at least 2 weeks during the holidays. I'm thinking maybe Paris and Provence? This is highly influenced by the fact I just finished reading A Year in Provence. I'm reading mixed reviews - some say Provence is amazing during that time, others say it's dead.
Any personal experience? Any input on which order (Paris for Christmas and Provence for New Years, or vice versa?) We are open to other ideas as well, including skiing.
I think I'd do Provence for the Christmas period and Paris for New Years. Regardless, nothing will be open on Christmas day (not too much) in either place, but I'd think Provence would be magical for Christmas - little markets, etc. Paris seems like it'd be more fun for New Years than Provence.
OMG this sounds amazing. Rent a flat or something for Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, stock up on food and booze since everything will be closed and then wander. Then Paris for New Years. Swoon.
