I just watched the whole series on HBO on demand. It was...strange, to say the least. Did any one else watch this? It's a few years old now, so maybe not relevant.
I thought it started off with promise and then just fizzled from there. Fortunately it was easy to watch and didn't try to be "deeper" than it was.
There's a LOT of nudity, which is pretty standard for HBO. My H and I blasted through the entire series in a week (just 3 seasons with ten half-hour episodes each). The main character (Thomas Jane) is sexy and likeable. Although a "dark" comedy, I found it pretty funny overall with very few actual serious things happening until the very end.
The premise is a teacher who is down on his luck and starts looking for a money-making venture, eventually deciding that being a male prostitute might work. The bumps along the road are quite funny and actually pretty believable. The show is set in Detroit during the recession.
The show started to lose momentum for me at the end when they spent too much time on certain story lines and not enough on others, in my opinion. Overall I liked it. It wasn't deeply moving or memorable, but still fun to watch.

I got sucked into watching it because it was based in Detroit. I actually enjoyed it and was bummed that they didnt get renewed for a 4th season and hate how it ended with the shooting. Now I feel like Ill never get any closure
Decent series but I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much not being from the area where it was filmed. Most of the fun for me was figuring out where they were and saying oh I've been there.
I think its worth a watch if you're in the mood for something to binge and zone out on, its not as raunchy as the series title and description may state. GOT and True Blood were way worse w nudity IMO. Anne Heche did a great job in this.

I watched one season. Or two? Like five years ago. I don't remember that much. I don't remember a shooting so I don't think I saw it to the end.
There was another series based on a female prostitute that I watched around the same time. I think it might have been set in London? And I think I liked that one better. It also didn't come to conclusion, and I"m not sure if I saw all that was released either.

Was it a BBC one? I saw ads for "Diary of a Call Girl" starring the woman who plays Rose on Doctor Who, but I never watched it.

Yes, that's what it was. I pretty sure I only saw the first two seasons of that one too. But I enjoyed it.

I totally agree. The premise was interesting and characters were relateable - it should have been much better than it actually was, especially after season 1.

I liked it, but I don't think I watched the last season. It still cracks me up remembering that scene where Anne Heche, "you used to be the king... and hung! Now you're just hung."
