My friends and I are planning a hiking/camping trip for a long weekend this summer. Two of us our coming from the east coast and one is from the west coast, so location is a toss up. Here are the ideas so far:
Yellowstone NP Glacier NP Acadia NP
We are open to other ideas. My one friend lives in Seattle and has done Mount Ranier and surrounding area several times, so that is probably out. I live in Richmond and my other friend lives in DC, so between the two of us Shenandoah NP and Blue Ridge is out.
Out of those options, I vote Acadia or Glacier. Yellowstone is definitely unique and cool, but for hiking purposes I prefer the other 2.
Glacier has so may options for hiking and camping! Its my favorite NP and I also live a couple hours from it currently. I can give you some great hiking recs.
Moderate awesome hikes: Avalanche Lake Hidden Lake Virginia Falls (around St Mary's Lake)
Longer awesome hikes: Grinnell Glacier Iceberg Lake Highline Trail
I also absolutely love Acadia. We go up there every few years. Lots of pretty hikes, and Mount Desert Island itself is quaint and pretty. We have found some local hikes outside of Acadia that are pretty neat too. I find the entire area really relaxing.
I'll throw out some the Utah NPs too. You can't go wrong with Zion, Arches, or Bryce either! My blog has some pictures and review of hikes we've done at all of these places if you wanted an idea of what is good at all those places

Thanks for the great suggestions! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond...I'm traveling in Thailand and just got to a hotel with internet! I will definitely share these suggestions with my friends when I get home.
