When I was leaving work I heard what sounded like air coming in my driver's-side window. I tried putting the window up and heard a whistling like air was still coming in. I tried putting the window down and back up. Big mistake. I accidentally pushed the button all the way down so it started to automatically go down. It wouldn't go back up. I heard some kind of clunking noise in my door. We're supposed to get heavy rain starting tonight. Wedding guy helped me figure out how to cover the window with plastic as water-tight as possible and offered to come help if needed. I did it all by myself and I'm hopeful that it'll keep out the rain. I tried to post a photo but it's too big. So I uploaded to tinypic and now my car is upside down.
Thanks ladies! The rain still hasn't started yet, as far as I can tell. I'm getting the window repaired as a Christmas present. It's going to be a boring Christmas this year. Oh well!
A police officer saw me doing that in my parking lot last night and didn't over to help. Punk. He did offer advice, though, so I can't be too grumpy.

If your cops are anything like mine, they mostly get paid to chat on their phones. It's awesome.

I think that's true of a lot of ours too. This guy had food in his hands so clearly he couldn't let it get cold.
That sucks! This probably doesn't fall under your glass coverage, does it? You'd be better off if it had shattered or something. Without you in the car at the time, of course.
I had this happen to me once (I remember hearing the exact same clunk). The window had fallen off the track, and the mechanic ended up having to get into the door to fix it. It was so long ago, I don't remember how much it cost. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.
Thanks ladies. I know they're going to have to go into the for and since I don't have a garage or, likely, the right tools, I'll let my mechanic do the dirty work. My dad is also going to replace my AC compressor as a Christmas present. Whee!

This reminds me of taking my driving test in my mother's car over Christmas break when I was 16. The window rolled down so I could prove that I knew all my hand signals, but wouldn't go back up. It was cold and rainy, but since its not illegal to have a broken window, I got to do my test with the window rolled down, getting soaked by the rain.
This is the reason why I opted to not get power windows or for locks on my car when I bought it.

Yikes! I don't mind when my power door locks act up because I can move them manually. The window made it 16 1/2 years though!
